First, it's not up to us. And second, maybe Russia is using some undue influence there like that referendum they pushed through in Crimea.
You think the referendum in Crimea was illegitimate? I was in Sevastopol in August '13 and I can assure you, those people are about as pro-Russian as they come.

The flags that fly in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine are in fact Ukrainian. You want to know why? Because that is Ukrainian soil.

Funny you mention flags in Crimea. My first observation upon arriving was the number of Russian flags I saw all over the place. And this was August, 2013, before the re-annexation.
You want to know why? Because that is Ukrainian soil.
You do realize Crimea had been Russian since Catherine the Great. In a meaningless Soviet-era gesture, Krushchev ceded the peninsula to Ukraine.
You can make all the excuses you want, when a foreign nation attacks and takes over a sovereign nation, it is nothing but thuggery.
And that’s what Russians are. If you took the entire world to the borders during the time of Catherine the Great, the world would look different. So what?
A country’s borders are to be respected not taken over whenever some piece of shit dictator wants to create ‘novorossiya’.

So answer this question...if I plant a flag of Koz on your property and move my family in, can I attack you and take it over?
