STEPHENVILLE, Texas – A jury was seated Monday in the trial of a man charged with killing the former Navy SEAL depicted in the Oscar-nominated movie "American Sniper," with the judge estimating no more than two dozen people were dismissed from service because of publicity about the case.

Ten women and two men will serve as jurors for Eddie Ray Routh's trial, which starts Wednesday with opening statements. Routh, a former Marine, is charged with capital murder in the deaths of 38-year-old Chris Kyle and Kyle's friend, 35-year-old Chad Littlefield. Kyle and Littlefield were trying to help Routh when prosecutors say he shot them at a Texas gun range in 2013.

Jury selection is often a crap shoot. It depends upon the jury wheel and how the names fall out.
Apparenlty they didn’t have a hard time finding jurors to sit for the trial.

If true that he never saw combat, how does he have PTSD? If he doesn’t have PTSD what was the motivation to murder Kyle and Littlefield? Were we LIED TO about him having PTSD??? If so, WHY? Also, it’s alleged he is a Muslim convert. Could this be ANOTHER radical Islamist terror hit that the gubmint is covering up as a ‘PTSD wacko hit’? Was Routh recruited by someone to murder Kyle? Soooo many questions.

Here’s a link to a long article that discusses a lot of what you are referring to.
It maybe worth a read.

In that article the words “remote range” jumped out at me. So we are to believe that this emotional cripple got the drop on and killed two combat hardened warriors. He never got a scratch. So no witnesses and he’s a nutjob. I will leave you to imagine what other scenarios could have transpired.

I keep thinking “sorry Vince”

Pappy Boyington and Chuck Yeager were both shot down. Pat Garrett got backshot while he was pissing. Wild Bill Hickock while gambling. Houdini by a surprise punch to the gut. Red Baron was shot down by rifleman in a ditch. Galland was shot down 4 times.

Pros get shot by lesser adversaries every day. The truth is that the pinnacle of shooting skill is not really that widely separated from the next several skill levels. Think of the Olympics,, the difference between the fastest 10 sprinters is tiny. And the next 500 under them really aren’t that much slower either.

And even though deranged, that Marine weapons training is a deeply ingrained thing. From behind, against two people who trusted him, he could have killed them both in a hellish second or two.
All he had to do was say something pleasant, like what a good day it was, or maybe thank them for caring,,, something about lets do this again soon,,,etc.
A nut could set it up a million ways.

It just boils down to that they trusted someone they thought was kinda like them,,, and he was actually crazy and hearing voices.

Could be. I’m thinking Chris Kyle never got told about the schizoid stuff and the previous death threats or I doubt he would have taken Routh out on the gun range.

I admit I am always suspicious of these things as the govt does so much clandestine stuff to people.

His lawyer is claiming he was insane:

In his opening statements, Routh's defense attorney, Tim Moore said that his client was clearly not in his right mind when he killed the two men that morning.

I would beg to differ.

Routh was obviously operating under utter clarity.

He knew that if he didn't backshoot them, he himself was dead meat. Case closed.

If I was a conspiracy nut :-) I could almost postulate that Chris Kyle and his friend were set up.

I read an article earlier today that said Routh had been killing small animals and saying he liked to watch them die. Then he had kidnapped and held his girlfriend and he friend at knife point and threatened to kill them in her apt. He went to the cookie factory for awhile then got out and did some other violent act threatening to kill people and went back to the cookie factory for awhile. Apparently he was a total pscho and PTSD had nothing to do with it.

So one could postulate that if the Mom and Dad did not tell Chris Kyle any of this for some unknown reason he would have had no clue. So now Kyle and his buddy are out on a “remote” (I’m quoting the news articles) area of the range. No witnesses with a homicidal killer with a loaded weapon. At some point you start connecting dots. I’m just sayin.
