What makes it especially disgusting for me is that Greece is in fact a relatively rich country. Just north of them are actually poor EU members Bulgaria and Romania and their hardship is not due to the actions of their democratically elected governments, but due to the brutal near 50 year occupation by the Soviet Union.

This is getting creepy. Greece elected communists, I believe. They are going to be very sorry if they get themselves under Russia and/or China’s thumb.
I was in Greece not long ago and your assessment is wrong. Yes they have treasures as a place to go visit for a vacation, but much of their real estate lays empty and abandoned. Only estates still going are those of the government pensioners.
Like us, they have a government elite class, those on the dole and the third or so that actually work for a living and have the whole thing being financed on their back.
The people there are ridiculous if they believe they can ignore their debt, make more and suffer no hardships for decades of social programs under socialists. They ran out of other people’s money.
