The Telegraph ^ | 10 Feb 2015 | Ambrose Evans-Pritchard

Greece's radical new government has threatened to seek money from Russia and China to avert a financial crisis rather than yield to austerity demands from Europe, risking a dangerous political rift with the leading EU powers and a full-blown NATO crisis.

Let Greece tilt towards Russia. Let Russia try to prop them up with their dwindling oil revenues.

Let Russian taxpayers (like Germans) work 48 weeks per year, so Greeks can work 38 weeks per year.

The Chinese and Russian governments are gonna subsidize the Greeks so they can live way better than the average Chinese or Russian citizen? Dream on...

Don't let the Euro hit you on the back as you go out the door... Seriously, ‘give us money or we'll go get money from somewhere else’? Whoopie. Or is the threat ‘hey, we're going to default on our debt, you're going to get stuck with the credit default cascade, and we'll be laughing all the way to the Russian bank?’

If it is the later, hey, that's kinda entertaining. Wonder if there's a method for the EU to eject a member state? Or how long it'd take to pass such laws? If it is the former, then bully for Greece; someone attach those funds to pay off the debt before they spend it.

I know several Greeks that have immigrated here, and they usually mock Americans for working so much. In their defense, none of them are on welfare; they do work and some own small businesses.

Putin: Angela, what are the Greeks good for?

Merkel: Well, Vlad, they have some nice vacation spots, but the service in the hotels really isn’t that great.

Putin: I see....

These people are so deranged, I’m guessing they might agree to host Chinese and Russian nukes or some crazy thing like that. Problem is that this will result in an EU economic embargo of Greece. End game? Greece becomes Zimbabwe with nice beaches.

SYRIZA can use their offices to sell NATO secrets to Russia and China, and take bribes for concessions in Greece, UN votes and such. But that is all money in their pockets, rather than floating their economy.

Russia and Greece can posture that they will split Greece off from Europe. Both can use it for leverage while negotiating with Europeans, but neither can really afford doing it in full.

It won’t solve Greece’s financial problems.

SYRIZA may well do the irrational thing, just out of ideology. They may do the same thing anyway, even if the Europeans pay their bills for them.
