Run Warren Run to open Hiawatha office Monday

CEDAR RAPIDS — MoveOn and Democracy for America members will be in Hiawatha Monday to open the local Run Warren Run office to show the broad, grass roots support for Sen. Elizabeth Warren to run for president in 2016.

The groups supporting the Run Warren Run effort will open an office at 764 N. Center Point Rd., Hiawatha at 6 p.m. Feb. 16.

After holding 220 Run Warren Run house parties across the country, Run Warren Run supporters are following up with Presidents Day actions — holding rallies, barbecues, and other traditional Presidents Day Weekend activities — with a goal of reaching a broad audience and building momentum behind the growing effort to draft the Massachusetts Democrat into the presidential race.

The event follows release of an online survey by YouGov poll, commissioned by MoveOn.org, that showed 98 percent of likely Iowa Democratic caucusgoers want a contested caucus, and 82 percent want to see Elizabeth Warren run for president.

At the office opening, there will be a discussion of the Run Warren Run campaign.

Doors open at 6 and the program starts at 6:30.

In December, MoveOn and Democracy for America members in Iowa and around the country voted to support a major national campaign, Run Warren Run, to encourage Warren to run for president in 2016. In the nationwide membership vote, MoveOn members agreed Warren would be a strong Democratic presidential nominee, given her brand of politics that focuses on fixing a political and economic system they see as working for powerful corporations but failing America’s middle-class and working families.

Amazing how empty is the D party bench Almost no visible candidates. And none so far that appear to have either good character or good principles The only way the R’s can lose in 2016 is if they throw the entire election away like 2008 or if they start campaigning and then suddenly quit like in 2012.

That’s a hoot! One small suggestion- replace “her fate is still unlearned” with “her funds are still unspent”, ‘cause it rhymes...
