Yeah, and that point is actually in view today. It was not a few years ago.

“I expect this to be to the ISIS war what the Battle of the Bulge was to WWII”

ISIS’ initial surprise and momentum has run its course. This is the start of the deliberate counterattack campaign. Tikrit is the main city on the road to Mosul, and Mosul will be the culminating battle of the campaign. I predict a “Summer of Death” for Daesh, if they try to hold Mosul this Summer.

If they abandon or lose Mosul, the rest of Iraq is clean up, even if it may be time-consuming and bloody.

They will face the sophistication of the Iranian military and large numbers of Shia infantry, while being pounded from the air throughout their rear areas. They risk having their retreat cut off to be destroyed in detail.

The only things that might save Daesh would be a massive sectarian rallying of all Sunnis to their cause, or a massive Turkish intervention on their side. Maybe the Saudis will pay the Turks to attack - they are sweating being surrounded by Iran in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and even the Sudan - just across the Red Sea from Mecca.

Antiwar.com keeps tallies of reported deaths. As we know from the Viet Nam war, these aren’t always reliable. But they show about 8,000 ISIS militants dead since the start of the year. Whether you’re talking the 30,000 core fighters the US DoD refers to, or the 200,000 supporters that the Kurds claim ISIS has, those 8,000 deaths have got to be significant.

The Western media seems to be acting like a cheerleader for ISIS, making a handful of recruits here, a handful there sound like a steady torrent of recruits, in some cases outright claiming that they are replacing fallen ISIS fighters as quickly as the Kurds can kill them. That’s BS. Even if the raw numbers bear out such claims, it’s the experienced fighters that are dying, replaced by idiot yokuls, and the other fighters have to be noticing their comrades dying in waves and starting to feel like maybe their god isn’t behind them after all.

There were reports from Kobane, that toward the end of the battle ISIS was throwing raw recruits in, who were shot dead real quick, and blowed up real good.

The big bleeding is scheduled for this Summer, to liberate Mosul.

High Intensity Warfare, here we come. Can you say Allahu Akhbar?

The collapse of the Iraqi Army as ISIS attacked, was largely the Sunnis and Kurds defecting en masse to their respective sectarian communities/militias, and the Shia then panicking (most of the technical specialists were Sunni). Everyone had lost faith in Prime Minister Maliki as nothing but a sectarian Shite.

That has stabilized now as a primarily Shia force, augmented by Shia Militias commanded by Iranian officers. They may be defeated, but they are unlikely to just dissolve like before.

Interesting analysis, thanks.
The dynamics there are not easy to understand.

This will likely turn into a larger sectarian war. The Sunni areas will likely not be thrilled with Iranian intervention.

Exactly. Why? I’ll suggest that they were concerned that the Obama administration would warn ISIS.

We need to drop a few 800 Megaton nukes on a few key Islamic population centers - just to get their undivided attention.

Earlier today, the ISF was able to secure the Tikrit Police Academy in the city-center after fierce clashes with the militants of ISIS and their tribal allies. North of Tikrit, the ISF and their allies were able to liberate most of Qadisiyah, making their way to the vicinity of the imperative Speicher Camp before staking their position a few hundred meters away.

In Al-Dour, ISIS withdrew most of their combatants north, following intense firefights with the ISF and Shi’i paramilitary units inside this vital village located south of Tikrit.

The ISF are attempting to complete the encirclement of Tikrit after they made significant progress east of the city, as they advanced to the Al-‘Ajeeni Oil Fields.

Meanwhile .....Al-Qaeda Militants Seize U.S. Supplied Weapons in Aleppo.......Two days after the disbandment of the second U.S. backed “moderate” rebel militia in six months, the Syrian Al-Qaeda branch “Jabhat Al-Nusra” (Al-Nusra Front) seized a large cache of TOW (wire-guided anti-tank) missiles inside Regiment 46 Base in southwestern Aleppo

According to Wall Street Journal (US Official) the U.S. isn’t involved with the taking of Tikrit, rather they’re saying Iran is supporting the Iraquis’s....via the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fighters on the ground with Iraqi units.

Looks like BO is trying to make heroes out of Iran by them coming together with Iraqui’s. One way or the other Bo’s playing his hand for his own personal achievement....he’s got to have something since he’s batted zero so far.

Nothing close to an 800 megaton nuke has ever existed.

The B41 was the highest yield of any American weapon ever (retired in1976) - about 25 megatons. The largest Russian weapon was the AN602 “Tsar Bomba” at 50 megatons, but only one was ever officially built, and the actual yield when exploded was more like 15 megatons. These could obliterate major cities, and kill millions upon detonation.

The biggest available to us today is the B83, at about 1.2 megatons at full yield. It is delivered by bomber aircraft, but is not on regular operational status. It would need to pulled from storage. The weapons ready to fire run around one to five hundred kilotons - 8 to 40 times Hiroshima.

Whatever, but thanks for the info ... The point is, we need to make an example out of a few million of these a-holes ... And I guarantee that if we nuked a few of their cities, the Muslim maggots would not only suddenly go silent, but rather quickly their roach-like hoards would crawl back beneath the slime-covered rocks from which they emerged. The only thing these vermin have ever understood, from the very beginning, is full-on unrestrained brute force. History proves that once they get the living crap kicked out of them, they go away, but only for a few generations. That is not sufficient. We need to do unimaginably horrific damage - and on so great a scale that political Islam will regress for a thousand years, if not totally disappear.

“latest video on Tirkit battle! Truly Nasty and Fierce! “

Going all high intensity on that ISIS ass.

They will face concentrated Air, Armor and Artillery - no more just riding into town in a pickup with a heavy machine gun and a few squads with AKs and RPGs, and executing civilians for ISIS - it is going to be a mass casualty exercise for them if they try to fight.

This is just a warmup for this Summer’s main event - the battle of Mosul. The Iraqi/Iranians are securing their supply line from Baghdad to Mosul by capturing Tikrit and retaking Camp Speicher.

The Battle for Mosul will be what I have been calling the “Summer of Death” for ISIS. Get your all your jihadi tourist kids in early, because once operations begin, travel will be difficult.

The Iran/Iraq War buried about a million. ISIS is in for a storm.
