Boehner Seeks To Dodge Blame For Coming DHS Funding Cave On Executive Amnesty

House Speaker John Boehner is under fire on Capitol Hill, as Democrats are poised to take control of the House floor to fund President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty.

Even though Republicans have solid majorities in both chambers of Congress, a little known and seldom used House rule seems likely to become the vehicle through which a so-called “clean” Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill—meaning one that would have no language blocking Obama’s executive amnesty—would pass the House of Representatives.

Senate Republicans already caved last week, passing a clean DHS funding bill for the full rest of the fiscal year after Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) held Senate Democrats together in blockading the House-passed DHS funding bill that contained language blocking it.

The House, under Boehner’s leadership, tried last week to pass a three-week clean funding bill, but more than 50 conservative Republicans held together to block its passage. Shortly thereafter, the Senate passed a one-week bill via voice vote—after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had told members to go home, meaning that even if they wanted to block the voice vote, most couldn’t get there in time to do so—and then the House passed it shortly thereafter. The president signed the one week DHS continuing resolution into law just moments before the deadline for current DHS funding, meaning DHS narrowly avoided a partial shutdown.

I read that of the 230,000 DHS employees, 200,000 would be considered essential and kept on the job. The remaining, lucky 30,000, would not work or be paid ... but would receive back pay once the budget was authorized. I bet they are rooting for a shutdown, which for them is a paid vacation.

And imagine there are still posters on FR that thought Boehner was showing that he had some b*lls (courage) even as savvy FR Conservatives responded that Boehner would cave as he always does and as he always intended to.

Since more than a year ago Conservatives have been warning that Boehner and McConnell needed to be taken out because of exactly what is happening today.

This is for all the marbles. If Obama is allowed to continue with his executive amnesty, it won't be for 5 million, but for some multiple of that number and he will assure that those invaders receive all the documents and aid they need to vote in 2016. He will have remade the country and the Republicans will be demographically eliminated from winning the Presidency. It is now or never IMO.

Can’t determine whether the GOP is being murdered by its leaders or is simply commiting suicide.

McConnell lied when he said he would apply the nuclear option to legislation if Reid invoked.

Mitch McConnell is a goddamned spineless degenerate liar.

GO NUCLEAR AND LET THE MUSLIM COMMUNIST FAGGOT HOMOSEXUAL USURPER IN THE WHITE HOUSE VETO “DHS” FUNDING.

Hard times coming strong.

They are so afraid of shutdown backfire similar to the Gingrich/Clinton years that they are frozen. With an MSM so Dem dominated, they may be justly afraid, but still...

“This is for all the marbles.”

Worth repeating.

Yet the speaker seems more concerned about preserving his lousy reputation as GOP leader .....

Oh, they’ll be here telling us all that Boehner had nothing to do with it, he was hamstrung by the rules. They are already here telling us we can’t win this battle, and we should pick a battle we can win. At this point the only battle I think Boehner, and McConnell could win would be raising taxes. But they will conveniently ignore that Boehner doesn’t appear to be doing anything to prevent Pelosi’s end run. And, it will still take Republican votes to pass amnesty this way. It is Boehner’s leadership team that is responsible for whipping votes against it, which will be another Republican failure. You will never convince me Boehner’s staff isn’t responsible for informing Pelosi of this rule, which is why he talked so tough for so long.

The really scary thing is, I honestly believe Obama will get everything he wants from that budget he sent to Congress. All he has to do is refuse what they send him, and threaten to blame Republicans for a government shutdown.

We truly have no representation in Washington.

Before the internet, the kinds of shenanigans McConnell and Boehner are engaged in would pass with few people knowing that they had been sold out.

Now, gutless wonders like McConnell and Boehner have to maneuver, and sometimes twist themselves into pretzels, to try to convince the base that they are conservative fighters.

With the free flow of information, however, the spotlight is on these traitors and we all know they are just a different flavor of the One Big Government Party. No one but the lowest of low information Republican voters have any trust in these “leaders”.
