State Sen. Oberweis got the nomination early in the election cycle because Illinois has early primaries. In 2014, it was held on March 18.

The 2016 Illinois candidates can start collecting petition signatures on about Sept. 5. I hope that, in March or April, a conservative Republican will announce that he or she will run against Sen. Kirk.

I am not a liberal (nor am I a politician) but I endorse Emanuel in the strongest possible terms, against the alternative, and I would urge all Republicans to do so.

Make no mistake, it sickens me to be in this position but Garcia is clearly worse, possibly a great deal worse. The prospect of his Mayoralty frightens me. It’s no accident that every far-left piece of garbage is endorsing Garcia.

As long as it isn’t Oberweis.... who may be a financial whiz but looks like a three time loser as a statewide candidate.
