The Americans with Disabilities Act was a watershed piece of legislation. As we approach the 25th anniversary of the ADA, advocates want to fold another facet of daily life into the law: the Internet.

BOOKMAN: And the issue, according to Feingold, isn't about special treatment, it's about making sure the Web works for everyone.

Or work for nobody. Like most federal regulations, only the megacorporations will be able to afford the lawyers and specialists to be able to figure it out, thus if I want to sell books out of my garage I will have to go through Amazon to do it or else the ADA scammers (those who ask to use your store's restroom just to measure the height your toilet stall's handbars and the width of the doors) will sue you for having a non-ADA compliant website.

To make it fair for everybody all screens should be blue with text only.

Progressive innovation!

Yes, the federal bureaucrats will require Braille keyboards for blind people so their computer displays can show closed caption responses. How about free headsets for hearing impaired users? Bureaucrats are really creative and brilliant at helping the disabled...NOT. Federal bureaucrats are as screwed-up as a soup sandwich.

Net Neutrality Friendly Face intro - first, selective speed for the disabled. Who hates the disabled? Then children, then moms, then blacks, then gays, then some sort of fairness evaluation program with restrictions for presumably biased organizations (conservative) and religions (Christian) while “helping” muslims, all overseen by ultrafast access for people with humanitarian responsibilities, like, uh... the rich...

So don’t be a racist hater.

Yes, the federal bureaucrats will require Braille keyboards for blind people...

That would be 20th Century FedMob overreach. In the 21st Century all keyboards sold will be required to be Braille Compliant. Just as 60 yr old males are required to purchase insurance coverage for gynecological care.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

“Jun 11, 2014 - Among the major race and ethnicity groups, the prevalence of a disability was higher for blacks and whites than for Asians and Hispanics.”

Notice - it does NOT say percentage...

They’re in a frickin wheelchair....

Not all disabled people are in a wheel chair. I know one particular lady that is mostly bedridden that the internet is her only distraction from her situation. There are many different disabled situations.

“BOOKMAN: On this point, the United States Department of Justice appears to be on Danielson’s side. The DOJ is scheduled to release regulations this month spelling out exactly what an ADA-compliant site is and to clarify which websites would have to meet those standards. In the absence of clear laws, lawsuits have been the go-to strategy. Companies including Target, Netflix and H&R Block have all reached settlement agreements. Others made site improvements after customer requests.”

U.S. Aims To Speed Up The Internet For The Disabled

The word "disabled" doesn't mean what it used to mean. Nowadays, millions of able-bodied liberals are collecting disability because their unemployment ran out or because they ran out of other options.

Nope. We will all have braille on our keyboards so that the blind can pick out any keyboard and it will be compatible.
