Former Florida Governor Charlie Crist Might Run For Senate In 2016

ByJAKE MILLER CBS NEWS March 12, 2015 Former Florida Governor Charlie Crist Might Run For Senate In 2016

He just can't help himself: former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist might run for the U.S. Senate in 2016, a bid that would mark the fourth time in ten years he's sought statewide office in the Sunshine State.

"It's very early, but he's being encouraged to seriously consider bringing the people's voice to the U.S. Senate," Kevin Cate, an adviser to Crist, told CNN on Wednesday. "And he always listens closely to Floridians."

For those of you keeping track at home: Crist first ran for governor in 2006 as a Republican, winning a four-year term. Instead of running for reelection in 2010, though, Crist decided to run for the Senate. But after his support for President Obama's 2009 stimulus package tanked his reputation among conservatives, he was chased out of the Republican primary by former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio.

Crist ran in November's general election as an independent, losing by 19 points to Rubio. He then began aligning himself with the Democratic Party, endorsing Mr. Obama's reelection in 2012, and in 2014, he ran for governor as a Democrat. He was narrowly defeated last November by incumbent Republican Gov. Rick Scott.

Wonder what party he’ll run under this time.

No doubt he will.

He is one of those who must rule.

Sadly, I have no reason to vote for Marco Rubio. he does not represent me.

Rubio isn’t running again for Senator, fortunately. Looks like it will be Jeff Atwater as the GOP nominee and if they put up the Orange Menace or any of the rest of the shrill Stalinist peanut gallery, he’ll beat them like a drum.

What a fricking loser. Florida has spoken, no interest in turncoats on either side. No one trusts him.

Florida is pretty much evenly divided between conservative and liberal. It doesn’t take much to swing it either way.

Are you certain that Rubio is not running? Because honestly, that would be great! If there is any solid conservative that will oppose him or run in his place, I will definitely vote for that person.

Jeff Atwater eh? Hm...I thought also possible Pam Bondi, State Attorney General or perhaps Dr Carson. He moved down Lauderdale way when he retired and if he does not make the POTUS run he has good “charisma”

Normally I would’t vote for Rubio either but if Crist is his opponent, I might have no effin choice.

And I really, really, really dislike RUBIO.

Nobody wants you, nobody likes you.

"It's very early, but he's being encouraged to seriously consider bringing the people's voice to the U.S. Senate,"

I don't see how, since christ can't figure out which voice he's using, plus he's running out of voices.

I’d vote for Crist over the Rube (whom I supported last time).

Better to stabbed in the front than from behind.

Besides, that GOP majority in the Senate is just killin’ it—NOT!
