“may not last” - how about: is meaningless unless ratified.
What they basically noted for the benefit of Iran...the treaty that will be signed (I do believe something will occur now at this point) is basically something that the Senate won’t approve. So by sending this letter....it’s a treaty between the government of Iran and one single American (President Obama).
The President may enforce upon it...but as the new guy arrives....he can toss the agreement without any issues. The hint here by the Senate to Iran...why would you sign something like this which only gets you to January of 2017 at best?
The comical side of this is that the Nobel Peace Prize folks can nominate Iran and Obama up for a 2016 Prize if we can just get the jokers to sign this by the end of 2015. I’d even put a bet on them being stupid enough to award the Nobel Prize over this....trying to ‘legit’ the nuke treaty in some fake fashion.
