'Another Mom Could Never Have Replaced The Father I Lost': Woman raised by lesbian moms comes out against gay marriage Heather Barwick says she is against gay marriage because she missed out on having her father around when she was growing up The 31-year-old mother-of-four admits her mother's partner 'treated me as if I was her own daughter'. She also says that her biological father 'wasn't a great guy,' and 'didn't bother coming around anymore'

Despite being an advocate for gay marriage in her 20s, Barwick now says she's had a change of heart'. My father's absence created a huge hole in me, and I ached every day. I loved my mom's partner, but she could never have replaced the father I lost' By DAVID MCCORMACK 18 March 2015

I always say it’s the kids who get screwed (up) in those situations.

More of the adults who were raised in these homes need to speak frankly. Some are and I applaud them. Others are too afraid. They are the ones who know first hand how vile the lifestyle is and how, even if there is love, it isn’t enough.

Fathers teach daughters about men in a way no woman can ... no matter how much a “woman” thinks she’s a “man”.

Unlike many raised in same sex families, this woman did have a father who was at one point in the picture. Her focus should also be on liberal divorce laws that permit people to walk out of marriages.
