Debbie Wasserman Schultz (and Charlie Crist) rule out 2016 Senate run
The Miami Herald ^

There will be no Debbie Wasserman-Schultz for Senate campaign, the Democratic National Committee chairwoman said Tuesday. She will instead seek reelection to her South Florida congressional seat in 2016.

“I will be running for reelection in the United States House of Representatives and serving my full, four-year term that President Obama has asked me to serve as chair of the DNC,” she told CNN.

Her office declined an interview request from the Miami Herald. The congresswoman, who has been in Congress since 2004, lives in Weston and represents a heavily Democratic district that extends south to Miami Beach.

Her announcement Tuesday came a day after she had declined to say if she was thinking about a Senate candidacy.

Political chatter about her interest waned after a public feud with Orlando trial attorney John Morgan over his push to legalize medical marijuana. Last month, Wasserman Schultz denied Morgan’s claim that her office had offered to support a tweaked medical pot constitutional amendment if Morgan stopped criticizing the congresswoman.

She said Monday she still has not met or had any discussions with Morgan on the subject — a sign that a Senate run probably wasn’t imminent.

Her announcement comes the day after former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist also said he, too, won’t run for Senate. The two decisions pave the way for U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy of Jupiter to launch his campaign. He’s expected to do so next week. U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, a Democrat from Orlando said Tuesday it’s more likely he’ll run now that Wasserman Schultz won’t.

Thank God, Debbie Was-a-Man Schultz is not running for the Senate in 2016; neither is Charlie "Orange Dude" Crist. I wonder if they have some info from a FL poll that gives them reasons to not run that we don't know about?

Alan “Cuckoo Nut” Grayson is sticking in there. Hopefully he will be soundly defeated and be out of Washington; at least for 2 years.

Governor Scott has expressed an interest in running but not in 2016 but in 2018 against the astronaut Democrat.

I get a laugh out of pics like this.

These women in public life who are SUCH feminists and demand to be treated the same as men in the work place don’t have a problem with a thing like this.

I never saw a President (ANY president) kiss a male colleague (not publicly) anyway!! :)

Why is THIS OK, and they do this without any compunction ...all the while STILL demanding gender equality in the workplace and expecting to be taken seriously as professionals?

There are really some rabidly feminist types out there who don’t complain. It reminds me of my friend and his buddies who had new neighbors coming into their building. He said the girls moving in were super feminist types...untidy, unfeminine, snotty and smug. The guys sat on the porch drinking beers while watching the girls struggle to get their stuff into their new apartment. :)

I’ll never forget that!!

Neither of them had any chance to win the Senate seat. With current Florida voting demographics....no Democrat has more then a slight chance to win, and keep the now Democrat held Senate seat. Grayson is nuts and Murphy is far from the sharpest knife in the drawer!!! In fact....he is far from being a “bright bulb”!!!

If Marco Rubio runs for Prez, he will not be the GOP nominee for the Senate seat. Who do you think might be interested in running since, as you say, Gov. Scott will not run?

Honestly....I have no idea who of the Republicans would run for the Senate seat opened by Marco Rubio, if he chooses to run for POTUS. However....there are a good number of Republican/Conservative, Florida legislators, that are highly qualified and capable of running for the U.S. Senate. If you take a look at the voting pattern of the 2014 election here in Florida....you will notice with few exceptions, that the state is turning “Red”.

The Democrats will have a tough time electing a Senator to fill Rubio’s shoes. Congressman Pat Murphy has tons of money (Family)...but he is a weak candidate....and, not-too-bright-upstairs. But......the present ongoing implosion of POTUS Obama....will hurt the Democrats badly across the country, and I have always believed Hillary Clinton, at the end of the day, will choose not run for many “varied” reasons!!!
