How Ted Cruz Plans to Disrupt the GOP Presidential Primary

Once again, the firebrand senator is betting that his best shot to win is breaking the old rules.

Ted Cruz’s decision to launch his presidential campaign on Monday breaks all the customs of a typical candidate announcement.

Presidential hopefuls tend to kick off the quest for the White House on home turf, after forming an exploratory committee and at the beginning of a new fundraising period, which allows them to maximize the amount of time they can spend raising money before filing their first report. In contrast, the Texas Senator will declare his intentions during a convocation speech at Liberty University in Virginia, forgoing an exploratory committee to formally jump into the race in the final weeks of the first quarter.

Cruz’s move, which was first reported by the Houston Chronicle and confirmed by TIME, may be unconventional. But since arriving in the Senate in 2013, the firebrand Texan has bet that the new way to win in politics is to break the old rules....

By NOT playing this game by THEIR Rules?

Yeah that sounds about right.

So he’s telling the truth that he plans to run for President, rather than the ‘traditional’ method of lying about it for 6 or 8 months. How scandalous!

What’s next if this is allowed to continue? Telling the truth about actual issues?

Great point. Dems do as they please and rule like potentates, while receiving no criticism for their lawbreaking. Meanwhile, Cruz will be criticized for any and everything he does.

Breaking old rules? Talk to the GOP about old rules and get sequestered
into the basement. They have new rules and it's conformity or else.

It's VERY interesting how all media reports about how WE choose our leaders have, as their central focus, pimping their product (campaign ads) and trying to make it seem as if how much money gets spent on THEM determines the winner.

Ask Majority Leader Cantor how that works.

Oh wait...
