While the hospital has released a public statement revealing few details about the circumstances, it says laws prevent more information from being released.

Probably one of the Obamacare laws that nobody ready while they promised that death panels like this one didn't exist.

This is what happens in a culture that does not know how to value the human being as having a soul given to them by God.

All these cases are different, and THIS case may be a horrible instance of malpractice, or even worse.

However, I do not believe that “life support” should be an entitlement, or something that a patient’s family is the last and final word on.

It’s a treatment and, like other treatments, should be given when it’s appropriate and not given when it isn’t.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, drug-abusing daughter of drug-abusing pop stars Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, has been in a coma resulting from drug abuse or possible suicide attempt for over eight weeks. She was moved to a long-term care facility at around seven weeks. What, a wife and mother of seven doesn't rate? Maybe they want to kill Ms Avila because she is a mother of seven?

Brain dead is NOT the same thing as comatose or “vegetative.” When the brain is dead, it is no more alive that a slab of meat that you buy at the supermarket. The body can be kept breathing for a while, but it is not really alive without the brain.

The article says that this woman has been in a coma for a few weeks.

No one ever recovers from brain death (because they are, in fact, dead). But people can and do recover from comas, sometimes after several years. And sometimes, even while they are comatose, they are aware of their surroundings. They just cannot respond.

I hope this family finds a facility that is willing to care for her and treat her as if she is aware of her surroundings (since she may very well be aware). Or maybe they can arrange for home care.

Prayers for the family. There have been cases where the medical profession has given up, yet the patient survived.
