Principled or know-it-all? (Excellent Ted Cruz article)
Washington Post ^ | March 24, 2015 | Marc Fisher

Complete Headline: Principled or know-it-all? GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz is a lightning rod for controversy and a stickler for process

[Snip]

His father describes Cruz as a “modern Jeremiah,” delivering the final warning before the collapse, sending an unpopular but vital message. His Harvard law professor, Alan Dershowitz, calls him “off-the-charts brilliant.” Sen. John McCain, the Arizona Republican and unsuccessful presidential candidate, once dubbed Cruz a “wacko bird.” His own wife says Cruz's supreme certainty had a way of being “irksome.”

It is Cruz’s ramrod devotion to principle — or, its flip side, an unyielding insistence on getting his way — that could propel him to the front ranks of Republican contenders for president or render him unelectable.

Know it all? No. Know a lot? Yes. Because he knows the One who does know it all.

Going to have to get used to saying the word president before saying the CIC’s name, and not spitting afterward.

Barry Goldwater, the movement conservative and 1964 Republican presidential nominee who famously said "I'd rather be right than president" and got his wish.

... and the country got a Democrat President Johnson with 8 years of Vietnam, plus 55,000 soldiers dead for the sake of going in and pulling out!

Even Cruz as president would gladly remind you that he is only the commander in chief of some human armed forces. He is not your commander in chief, he cannot tell you what to do, he can only hope to win your support by merit.

More like remembering the things the MSM dearly hopes to hide. Forgive seventy times seven but excuse never.

Cruz is a Princeton and Harvard graduate. Why the left can’t get behind him is unreal.

Even Cruz as president would gladly remind you that he is only the commander in chief of some human armed forces.

Works for me.

He is not your commander in chief, he cannot tell you what to do,

He can be my CIC anytime. BTW, anyone can tell anyone at any time what to do. it is up to the tellee if they wish to doit.

he can only hope to win your support by merit.

He has already earned my support, by the very merit he exhibits.

Note to Ted. You probably already know this but...:

Hire more bodyguards; none from the WH even if they are given to you for “free”. No one needs “free” spies in his camp.

Wear steel neck choker and bulletproof vest. Get bulletproof shield for speaking engagements. Get armored vehicle.

No shaking hands unless wear gloves or shielding material.

All vehicles have the “system guidance override” chip removed.

Get cell phones that are either throwaways or non-tracking capabilities.

Computer communications about non-sensitive matters only.

Bug sweep residence and office frequently.

Only meet and talk at secure locations about sensitive matters.

Always have witnesses around at all times. Never jog alone.

Could go on but thats the gist...: )

Nope, you should never allow him to command you as a person, and his presumption that he can do so is a disqualifier. He is Caesar, he is not God.

IMHO Ted is better than Ronald Reagan in terms of character (and I loved and voted for him). I’m not saying he would or will be a better president - he may not get the chance - but morally Cruz is the better man. If we (conservatives and our nation at large) don’t support Cruz in every way we will never have another chance - our country is toast, burnt toast.
