Police: Woman Threw Molotov Cocktail at Anti-Abortion Protestors

A woman is facing charges after police say she threw a Molotov cocktail at anti-abortion protesters who were standing outside of Planned Parenthood.

Melanie Toney, 52, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to the affidavit, the incident happened around 6:25 p.m. on Monday at the Planned Parenthood building on East Ben White Boulevard.

Multiple witnesses told police that they witnessed Toney throw a flaming object out of the passenger side window of her BMW SUV near the protesters, the affidavit stated.

Among other observations: if this were "Woman Threw Molotov Cocktail at Abortion Rights Protestors," it would be national news.

(I say this as a sometime member of a mailing list--not about politics, although political discussion wasn't banned--on which one person kept referring to something like "abortion clinic bombers" as representative of an entire movement. This person did not refer to numerous "suicide bombers" as representative of a different movement and probably would've condemned any effort to do so.)
