When George Herbert Bush was running for prez and I was working the phones in support of him, I remember sitting there in between calls thinking, "I wish I could get really excited about this guy but I am not."

Same thing for Dole, McCain, Bush and Romney. I just couldn't get all jazzed about guys who I did not believe had my back, so to speak.

Ted Cruz is a solid candidate and he is making me want to work hard, just like when Ronald Reagan ran in 1984.

I think you are speaking for millions of us...nicely put. I think the president should be someone you learn from. Everytime Newt spoke during the primaries, he said something profound and it was almost always spontaneous. He spoke about the present and interweaved a little bit of history into it.

I think Ronald Reagan could do that quite well in his first term. I pray Ted Cruz can do this too. I see many similarities to him and Reagan. People forget that Bush was the candidate of the party. I think he even won NH. It was not until Reagan one over the democrats and others to vote for him.

How about a Cruz/Rubio ticket?

You comments are the telltale sign of a landslide in the making.

With Cruz, like Reagan, we as ordinary Americans can just sense a natural connection that is reinforced every time we hear or read about him.

My dad who was a life long Democrats then told me back in the late 90s before he died that he didn’t even bother to go vote for Mondale back in 1984.

In 1980, I was an unemployed construction engineer working odd jobs to make ends meet. Fortunately, I was in my my mid 20’s with just myself to worry about. I spent my spare time walking the neighborhoods of Maricopa County handing out Reagan campaign literature.
