VA Employee Who Received Relocation Pay of $288,000 Under Investigation…Just the Tip of the Iceberg
Red Statements ^ | 3/30/2015 | Steven Ahle

The inspector general of the VA is looking into why Diana Rubens received $288,000 in relocation reimbursement for a 140 mile move. The average relocation check over the past three years is just a tad over $12,000. Relocation pay is supposed to help cover the costs of moving including househunting, moving, terminated leases and temporary housing. Housing doesn’t seem to be the problem as Rubens sold her house in Alexandria last July for $770,000 to Stone Financing, who sold the property for a loss of over $80,000. Hmmm. She then bought a house in Pennsylvania for $589,000.

Her relocation check is not the only thing in question. She is also being paid the salary of a senior executive service-level salary, even though she is two levels below she normally would have to be at in order to receive that money. In a five year period, she received $97,000 in bonuses despite the fact that under her, waiting times for veterans increased to 325 days.

The investigation began after U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller, the chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, sent letters to the VA Inspector General Richard Griffin and another to VA Sec. Robert McDonald. Miller questioned the relocation pay, which is about $276,000 above the average. At a time when our veterans are unable to get the care they need, this kind of embezzlement should not be allowed. I would also point out that none of this is news to either the inspector general or the director of the VA, yet they did nothing until congress balked.

Rubens was paid $181,000 in base pay last year plus whatever bonus she may have gotten or miscellaneous compensation she may have received.

Eliminate the VA along with everything else. Servicemen can go to the doctor and facility they wish.

Eliminate about 75% of the wasteful government agencies. Put any useful homeland security duties, as well as the border patrol under the aegis of the FBI.

Lucky for them that glow bull discombobulation is rapidly melting icebergs, so tips are about all that’s left. No under”lying” substance to find. Did her computer just happen to burst in to flames as well?

What needs to be examined is what her activities within the DNC are...She is some sort of DemocRAT activist. Nobody gets paid off like that for nothing or as an oversight

This gets brought up every decade...ever since they created the VA in the 1920s. What the VA became was some ‘gift’ assembly line that Congressmen and Senators could gift back to their districts and states.

Once Medicare was created in the 1960s...we should have done some expansion with it (call it Medicare-Plus), and just ended the VA and moved all military qualified folks into this Medicare-Plus program. Then gut the VA and it’s hospitals....ending the mess that has existed for well over seventy years.

The trouble is...it’s a gift assembly line and no political figure wants to end it.

Interesting factoid:
770,000 - 589,000 = 181,000

“Put any useful homeland security duties, as well as the border patrol under the aegis of the FBI.”

You do that and you destroy any useful homeland security agencies.

The FBI is not anymore a competent professional organization. It is a joke. A PC organization that is coasting along on its history, more interested in gender issues and “diversity” than actually doing anything.

Still have a great lab but line Agents are worthless.

Just for laughs and giggles they should ask her for her emails. 10 to 1 they have vanished.

She must have good under-desk skills.

There seem to be some common themes with these senior VA employees. They pull in big bucks and make things worse for the Veterans. Is this by design? Yep.

My radar is pinging on privileges given to a protected class

Did she have to relocate with several truckloads of pantsuits, matching sensible shoes, and perhaps multiple cats?

Probably just a move by Obama to equalize the pay of women that work for him with the pay of men who work for him. Simply give a lot of money away to women.

Why worry about “asking” for emails, just go take the damn computers like they would to you or I. Don’t give them ANY time to do their mass deleting. Go in when they least expect it and TAKE their damn computers. They had just such an opportunity to do that with Hitlary’s and now look what they got.
