When that laser successfully knocks down an incoming supersonic target like the Coyote or a Vandal, maybe it will be a viable anti-missile defense. It sure is not now. And is certainly is not a "particle beam weapon".
RAM is apparently effective, but suffers the usual limited magazine capacity of such systems. A huge issue in a 360° swarming attack that the Russian tactics employ and the Iranians will likely try and copy. Nice thing about it (if it still has it) is the IR seeker capability, perfect for the very hot signature of a Mach 2+ low altitude missile down the throat.
