"The reality is is my servers make $32 an hour on average," said Musser. "Why do I need to pay them $15? Why do I need to pay them $10? They're already making $32."

Kshama Sawant, the self-proclaimed Marxist city counsel member who pimped the idea, is jazzed.

Seattle workers hail 'historic moment' as city sets course for $15 minimum wage

“This is a historic moment,” she told the Guardian. “This is truly a historic victory for the working class of Seattle, and nationwide, and internationally.”

“Some restaurants are even considering hiring fewer servers and using tablets for customers to place orders at tables, according to restaurant industry officials.”

Do whatever you need to do. When dopes think they can just vote themselves a raise, just imagine what they will feel when they vote themselves out of a job.

It sounds like the owners are doing JUST WHAT THE LIBERALS PREDICTED. They are holding down costs to make themselves more efficient.

By the way, one large seafood chain now tells its customers to NO LONGER TIP, since the staff is already getting paid well. In Texas, the Federal Minimum Wage for waiters applies - it is $2.13 per hour. In Seattle, waiters now get $11 per hour, soon to be $15 per hour. I tip in Texas - there is NO WAY that I will ever tip again in Seattle. It’s game over for that.

Time for the business owners to start screaming “DID YOU DO THIS ON PURPOSE TO DESTROY OUR BUSINESSES?!” at the politicians and their stooges who forced this upon them.

The best thing that can happen to Seattle is for every business to leave that city, and maybe that state. The only way to fight these people is financially. I realize that these stores that are all over the country can’t just shut their doors in the city, but every other business should close their doors and move to a more business friendly state.

Since many customers left a generous tips because they felt sorry for the lowly paid workers, I would expect that with the higher wages the tips will be less generous.

Just for the record, Seattle has a minimum paid time off law on the books. All employees who work within the city limits (no matter where their company is headquartered) are required to get a set minimum paid time off for each 40 hours worked.

The interesting twist is that if an employee of a California firm works, x hours a month in Seattle, y hours in Portland, and z hours in San Francisco on a regular basis, the paid time off may only apply to their normal Seattle work times.

You got to love liberals micro-managing business and screwing everything up.

Employers should bombard the Media pukes with reasons WHY they are shutting down, moving outside the jurisdiction limits, cutting hours or staff or benefits and costs before raising prices. Issue press releases from the affected businesses. Put the blame for this directly where it belongs — Seattle politicians — politicians who have never run a business or met a payroll or operated a real business in such an unfriendly regulatory environment.
