Sorry, have to disagree. This was not a mere, one time “transgression.” This was a 4 star general who acted as though he was above the law. IMO he deserves jail time. His sentence is the equivalent of a speeding ticket, now that he’s making big bucks for an investment firm.

Best thing he could do would be to set up a tell all interview with major well-known investigative reporter ( Greta Van Sustern), get all the details out there, and take responsibility for his actions. Then he’s basically cleared the way for any future jobs he might tackle, including politics, and there are no more skeletons in the closet. Americans appreciate honesty, and his military record aside from the sad lapse in judgement is still respectable. At least he can acknowledge his failings and not try to deny or cover up aka the Clinyons, the Obama’s, etc.

Although, when you think about it, the current administration has done far more damage to the country when they were preening after Bin Laden’s execution. And what about the SEAL helicopter shot down in Afghanistan? Egypt’s government is convinced Obama is a tool of the Muslim Brotherhood. This thing with Petreus is a smokescreen to deflect attention and punish him as well for not playing along with the State Dept.’s fantasy narratives.
