(snip) The focus of the fundraiser was on foreign policy and standing with Israel, and everyone at the fundraiser was on the same pagewhich is the Obama-Clinton foreign policy has dramatically weakened our friendship and relationship with the nation of Israel. The Times somehow found it extraordinary that a conservative Republican would be willing to have a conversation about foreign policy with people who are homosexual. It is only in the Times strange caricature of conservatism that that is the case. I am happy to bring my conservative message to anybodyconservative or liberaland not every supporter of a candidate will agree with a candidate on every issue.
I was asked my views on gay marriage and I said the exact same thing I say every other time, which is I stated unambiguously and directly that I oppose gay marriage and that the Constitution leaves the decision of marriage up to the statesso neither the federal government nor unelected federal judges should be striking down traditional marriage laws developed by state legislatures. One individual at the event asked my wife and me a question about what we would do if we found out one of our little girls was gay. Our response without hesitation was we would love her with all our hearts and that our love for our daughters is unconditional. The Times found that apparently quite newsworthy, that conservatives love their children no matter what.
... Cruz, as he noted in the earlier published part of this interview, set a record as having raised the most amount of money for his presidential campaign since its launch$4 million in the first week, which is more than as he said any Republican candidate for the White House in modern history.

LOL....good shot.
Mr Cruz towers so very far above these “news” vultures in the disinfotainment industry that it actually IS funny seeing them try to belittle him. Pitiful yet funny.
I think gay marriage is just about the silliest thing I’ve ever hard.
wondering though, if it’s left up to the states, how will that affect federal tax laws?
will the feds recognize those people in states that allow gay “marriage” to get the tax benefits if there are any. don’t know I’m not married, just nosy :)
I think, Mr. Cruz, that they fear your honesty. Truth is the rarest commodity in America these days. It’s very refreshing for me to see it in you.
No kidding. He is about the only ray of light I see in this long, dark tunnel.
Well as you likely know, that’s the 2nd question that will be before the Supreme Court. 1. Is it a state issue; and if so 2. is a state’s decision recognized nationally.
NY Times have done a few hit pieces lately and they are trying to paint him as a hypocrite amongst other things.
Smart retort by Cruz.
Yep!
Those fools are no match for Cruz.
Not a fair fight : )
Great point—another reason to view tax reform as the solution to many potential problems.
I agree.
An honest man!? In America!?? Surely I must be seeing things. But no, he’s the real deal, and God Bless him.
I like Mr. Cruz and his style. At this early stage he appears to be strong, steady, and very intelligent.
Sorry Mikey, you must think I’m meshuge. My post 7 was intended in reply to DP0622.
Karl Rove is downright verklempt over Ted’s steady rise in popularity. Sleepless nights Karl, sleepless nights!
I like two things about Cruz’s attitude to the media: (1) he fights back; and (2) he does it with Reagan-style humor, never seeming peevish or wound-too-tight.
1. He's Hispanic. No minorities are allowed out of the concentration camp of the Democrat Party.
2. He's highly intelligent and educated. Ivy Leaguers are not allowed to show up their Leftist alma maters.
3. He's a Christian. All Christians are sexist, racist homophobes unlike Muslims who are loving and tolerant according to the NYT.
4. He's a patriot. No one who loves America is a good person because all progressives hate America and all progressives are good people according to the NYT.
5. He stands up to the elites in Congress. The NYT is constantly berating the 1%, but prints stories about practically no one else. The NYT is chock full of the elites of government, industry, finance, the arts, universities, etc.
6. Question: Why? Why all the hatred and revulsion for everything that has made America great?
Answer: Progressives hate themselves. They laud the noble savage while knowing that they themselves are neither noble nor savage. They enjoy the best of life (beauty, art, music, dwelling places, food) knowing that the "noble savages" have no access to the same.
Like addicts, they hate themselves for loving their addiction, but cannot tear themselves away from the good life. So, they dine at $100 prix fixe restaurants while sneering at someone like Ted Cruz who really does spend time with the regular people and enjoys common pleasures.
They call others "haters" when it is they themselves who are consumed by hatred.
Nice!!
