As contributions fall, House GOP rebels blame party leaders

WASHINGTON (AP) — As he began his first re-election run in early 2013, tea party Rep. Thomas Massie had no trouble raising money from business interests.

Then came 2015.

The Kentucky Republican voted against returning John Boehner, R-Ohio, to the speaker's job and opposed an effort by GOP leaders to avoid a standoff with President Barack Obama over immigration that threatened to shut down the Department of Homeland Security.

In the first three months of 2013, Massie reported $46,000 rolling in from tobacco, trucking, health care and other industries. During the first quarter of 2015, Massie has collected just $1,000 from political action committees, which funnel contributions to candidates from business, labor or ideological interests. That money came from the conservative Eagle Forum.

Massie and some other conservatives say the reason their business contributions have fallen is simple: GOP leaders are retaliating for their defiance.

The only place the good ones will get money is from us.

Each Congressional District has at least 100.000 Conservatives.

If you have a good Congressman, get out your checkbook.

If you have a BAD, GOPe Congressman, contribute to any and everyone who will oppose him. If no Conservative is available, contribute to the Democrat.

First, the GOP must die. Everything else comes after that.

They’re either working for corporatist a or for the people

They can choose and then collect donations from whom they choose. But they will not survive the middle of the road any more.

The GOP deserves to die.

The EXEMPT undocumented Democrats:
"We absolutely support Obama, Holder, Lynch, and Clinton ....
and HATE conservatives and Tea Party who deserve to be abused by the IRS and us."

Is there a reliable list of who voted how?

when the GOP dies it is over and the Dems take over - anarchy rules. Transform the GOP to what the people want.

It’s time to dry up funding for GOP establishment. We should target funds to real conservatives locally and nationally.

Ted Cruz comes to mind.

After the awful way they treated conservatives during the election and then proceeded to advance the democrat agenda after the election I will never, ever, again give as much as one thin dime to the Republican Party.

Good question. Donate according to what they’ve done.

I see the AP and the MSM is cahoots with the GOP to demoralise true conservatives. Every other story from them in the last few days is designed to do that.

Wait a minute, let me hear that again:

Dry up funding for the GOP establishment.

Just sounds nice.

Thank you. I’m in Florida and I wouldn’t contribute a nickel to Rubio. I was hoping he’d be primary’d, but that probably won’t happen. He puts on conservatism like makeup.

Remember that McConnell said he would “ask” donors not to donate to the rebels. He also seemed to say he would retaliate against orgs and donors who funded the rebels.

If we stop giving money to the GOP establishment, they will no longer be able to accomplish the agenda of the Democrat party.

There is nothing to prevent once from donating to conservatives in other districts or states.
