'Switchblades are crap anyway. Very few American blue collar men—even criminals—have attention spans so short as to carry something so fragile for the purpose of using it as a weapon.'

Baltimore simply defines a switchblade, as one with a automatic spring on it. I have several[protech, crkt, benchmade] of which are siting on my table. Designed for emt, police, and military use. Plenty of FReepers have such, nor should they be banned.

Are you talking about lockblades or switchblades? Were those knives designed for fighting? Switchblades open with the push or slide of a button and no finger pressure on the blade or attachment to the blade. There were side-opening switchblades from south of the southern border and others from Europe that slid straight out from the end of the handle—both cheap, fragile and not suitable for fighting IMO.

One of the best short fighting knives would probably be the old Fairbairn–Sykes type.

Switchblades are extremely convenient for one hand use, (if well made) and the Airborne has always had them for use in parachute jumping, although in real life we never got to see the military issue.

You have some good ones it sounds like.

A nice little 2 incher, easily reachable, sure is handy for little cutting chores.

Probably because it isn't true. There are any number of stories out there refuting it.

So more and more it looks like it looked from the beginning. The cops decided to give him a beating and he died.

A couple of 'switchblade' knives deemed illegal in Baltimore.
