Ted Cruz’s hypocritical efforts to become more mainstream
Washington Post ^ | Hitman Reuben

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) has often encouraged libertarian fearmongering on the National Security Agency surveillance program, accusing the government of listening in on our calls. He praised Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) for his drone filibuster and has resisted putting forth a full-throated plan to defeat the Islamic State. And there was no bigger opponent of immigration reform — “amnesty!” — when Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) was battling his way through the Senate.

Now Cruz is trying to find middle ground so as not to be on the same page with Paul. “As Republicans debate whether to renew the post-9/11 PATRIOT Act, Cruz is staking out a position between two of his main rivals, the hawkish Marco Rubio and the libertarian-leaning Rand Paul,” Politico reports. His efforts last time it came up for a vote to tie the NSA up in knots earned him the scorn of serious national security experts and officials, including former CIA chief Michael Hayden and former attorney general Michael Mukasey. It will be interesting to see Cruz explain exactly where the abuse is (an independent panel found none) and why he would join the American Civil Liberties Union in trying to hamper data collection.

And on immigration, in the wake of cryptic comments by Wisconsin

Again, this obsessive, propagandist Wash Post writer contorts the factual record as to Sen. Cruz's position in an attempt to malign him. As to that effort:

“He is expanding his base, and he is right now hitting on a lot of cylinders and I think the mechanics of the campaign have done well,” said Dave Carney, a GOP operative in New Hampshire. “My advice is: do not underestimate him. He is a serious, serious, guy and the more the nation’s elites make fun of him, the stronger he will be. Everyone ignores him at their own peril.”

AC, you should know by now that I wholeheartedly am for him. That being said I am not for a ridiculous amount of Asian (indian mainly) workers coming here and decimating the profession of white collars with their accepting lower wages and turning out lousy work so Zuckerburg and Gates can get more rich. They also vote 70 percent for dems.
We may agree to disagree on this but Cruz still has my vote. I shall just send him my opinion.
I wont vote for walker just because he heard this was a populist theme and jumped on it.

I have less and less patience for articles that are only invective, but pretend to inform or explain. Reading this, all I learn is that Rubin doesn’t like Ted Cruz or what he’s doing, and conclude that she doesn’t want me to, either.

What would Big Media be without their ‘dog whistle’ adjectives and adverbs? Always derisive when attached to Republicans/Conservatives and always supportive when attached to Democrats/lLiberals/Progressives.

“What would Big Media be without their ‘dog whistle’ adjectives and adverbs?”

I contend that they put the attack terms on their screens first and write the rest of their gibberish afterwards.

Their ideas have already done enough damage to the republic.

I'm glad this was early in the article so I didn't waste time reading the rest.

Hypocritical? The post can’t recognize it in the mirror, how on earth could they spot in anywhere else, let alone in Cruz?

More accurately, Washington Diarrhea-from-an-Ebola-patient.

You don't even want to use it for compost.

Ms. Rubin has undoubtedly noticed more and more mention of the words TRUSTWORTHY, CONSISTENT, and INCLUSIVE in recent stories describing Ted Cruz from voters seeing him in person for the first time. It’s piercing the fog of the false image of Ted Cruz the GOPe and big media have created and she can’t have that if Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio are to succeed. Time to invent new rumors and false narratives to put doubt in the minds of those foolish conservatives. Lady, it ain’t going to work.

Jen Rubin is a GOP Progressive somewhere to the left of Meghan McCain. Except more skilled with words and stuff. that is all.
