Give someone “free” insurance and they’re going to use it - for a toothache, even.
It might be contrary to goals, but it’s not contrary to common sense.
Its an investment....
They’re all on Medicaid. None of them pay premiums. You really think they want to start a paper trail with a doctor?? A doctor who might ask them about drugs, alcohol, guns, wives, chidren?? They’re generally street people....just like before.
They’re a little late to this story - and “contrary to goals”? It’s the only thing that could have happened. When you make the cost of going to the ER the same as going to a clinic there is eliminates another deterrent of going to the ER...therefore, visits increase, to the further detriment of those who need emergency services.
More ER visits at hospitals.....the Government better get involved and do something about this......!
To the Obama voters we were a walk in clinic that *never* closed,*never* talked about payment (illegal under Federal law) and arranged for a free cab ride home after they had been treated.
