America is crumbling before our eyes. Once, the U.S. was the envy of the world with its modern roads, airports, railroad bridges and other infrastructure.
Everything was first-class.
Now, its third-rate.
An Amtrak passenger train derailed Tuesday in Philadelphia, killing at least seven passengers.
The investigation into the crash is only beginning, and its too early to say what caused it. But its not too early to say that Amtraks crumbling infrastructure didnt help matters.
Its an extremely heavily used stretch of track, transportation analyst Matthew L. Wald told CNN, referring to the area where the train derailed Tuesday night. They have trouble keeping it in a state of good repair.

No event is too tragic for the left to politicize.
Ah, great point. I fell down on the job there. LOL
Hah, no other nation in the world hands over more money to foreign countries as well.
Infrastructure? no. Its what happens when you hit a curve with too much speed. The people running these things didn’t take over the railroads yesterday. They know about curves. BBut if the engine driver is playing video games or watching TV, well...
As an alternative if states, counties and even cities are primarily responsible for their own infrastructure they know that it is cheaper to repair a pothole rather than waiting to do it later. If bad roads are causing problems then city councils will get them fixed rather than waiting for money to be dropped from the sky. Nothing is made better by paying a federal 18¢ per gallon gasoline tax, baptizing it in the waters of the Potomac and then sending some of it back to the districts with political pull. I would rather just keep it local. Maybe have a penny or two tax to keep nationally important interstates going through sparse population areas in the west (Wyoming and Alaska, not LA and Seattle), but that's it.
Yup...Rex Nutting, an honors graduate of the Goebbels School of Journalism and always reliably, completely wrong.
Every problem is now going to be about not paying enough taxes. If we give the government 100% of our money would life be perfect, accident and disease and crime free?
Obama Jokes At Jobs Council: "Shovel-Ready Was Not As Shovel-Ready As We Expected".
I think somebody may have left one of those shovels on the tracks...
Amtrak crash shows the high cost of ignoring SPEED LIMIT SIGNS!..................
Infrastructure?
Come on man,
We needs to be spending that money on welfare crappola instead.
When it buys us something, it’s less costly than war.
When it doesn’t, it’s an additional cost to war.
The problem as I see it, is that we don’t request certain levels of cooperation from the folks we support.
In the overall scheme of things, the amounts we pay out aren’t that significant. It’s a large sum of money, in the overall scope of things, not that large.
Well, I can’t speak to the section of track north of Philadelphia, but the section of “high-speed” track north of NYC has STILL not been upgraded with cement ties!
This is important because cement ties — unlike wooden ties — do not permit their “spikes” to get loose and wobbly, and therefore keep the steel rails “in place”.
Strangely enough, the low-speed tracks that bring commuters home did have their wooden ties replaced with cement ties.
“Beautification” of the commuter stations seems to have plenty of money.

A lot more kickbacks there as well.
That's what happens when you elect communists to public office.
BTW....any bets on whether or not the conductor was texting?
Go to youtube and search track laying machine for an awesome display of a automated mobile production process.
You'd think there has already been an official report on the cause of the accident.
