Maryland, Illinois, and California will be a turkey shoot for them, since they are run by Democrats and (effectively) don’t have the means to shoot back.
Michigan should be quite easy, for the same reason.
Virginia might hold a few surprises, though - unless they limit themselves to college campii.

Illinois has had a CCW licensing program for well over a year. Last time I checked nearly 50,000 had been issued. Both Mrs L and I have ours. They’ll be in for a rude shock in Illinois.

Don’t equate Illinois with Chicago.
Yes, in Chicago it’s likely the bad guys out-gun the good guys. But get outside of Chicago, and Cook County, and Illinois is a very red state, with a multitude of heavily-armed patriotic Americans, who will not “...go gently into that good night.”
I hear you...but the numbers will take some time to build up to the levels of Florida and Texas. Terrorists in IL still more likely to run into a pig with a gun than a CCW with a gun (unlike Texas), which means there is more work to do.
I don’t mean to incite violence. But the time has come for someone to ‘get medieval on their asses’. With pliers and a blowtorch.
I don’t disagree about more work needing to be done. But if the three local establishments which offer classes are any indication those numbers will rise quickly.
All three have waiting lists for their classes. They’re running them through with both hands.

One of my sisters is a confirmed lib who works for a major corp. and lives in a western Chicago ‘burb. She says when she goes to parties around her home, she’s almost always the only Democrat. Even her husband is a Republican.

I’ve talked to several sources lately that have told me there are indications that a large number of Muslims are inbound through our Southern borders that are being sent to red regions to convert them to blue regions with assstance from our own government.
I see Illinois is at approximately 68,549 permits.
Over here in Iowa, we’re at about 243,000 (but we got a head start and our training requirements are easily met).
