During a press conference earlier this week explaining the circumstances under which local police shot a suspect they were pursuing, Sheriff Ed Mattingly of Bardstown, Kentucky, expressed relief that the man who was shot was white.
"We are glad that he is white, and we shouldn't have to be worried about that. And we do not want any backlash or violence in this community because people have been misinformed," Mattingly said.
Mattingly's comments have themselves caused backlash in what otherwise might have been a comparatively uncontroversial incident: Unlike high-profile cases like the killings of Walter Scott and Eric Garner — neither of whom were engaged in serious criminal activities or attempted to harm police officers — the shooting victim in this case, John Kennedy Fenwick, was allegedly involved in a violent pursuit using a stolen vehicle. Fenwick is expected to survive his injuries. Mattingly's quoted comments begin around the 12:15 mark in the video below.

Well, he’s being honest. There will be no rioting tonight. And I read “backlash” as “blacklash”. At first I felt bad but if other groups can appropriate words and change their meaning, even invent new words and expect us to accept them, so can I.
I notice how the author of this piece left out Mike Brown and Trayvon. Both involved some violence committed by the perps.

This is not a shocking attitude. I am sure it is the common thought of most police chiefs and sheriffs. Negros are becoming Untouchable and in time -by the end of the year, say- killing a Negro perp in any circumstance at all will get at least a massive Federal investigation and certainly public castigation and loss of job for the relevant chief and trials with loaded juries for the officer(s).

I am beginning to think, that sooner or later, it will be illegal to be white. I think if we ever get in a big scrap over this, we will find ourselves fighting our own government, because I think the government will be on the side of the professional racists. I hope I am wrong, but I am not confident.

Stating general truths will get a man fired these days.
I suspect you are right. The government in a totalitarian society is always on the side of the criminal class against the bourgeoisie. The middle class is the center of wealth and power in any less than totalist society and is the enemy until the middle class becomes the class of commissars and bureaucrats.
And why don't you advertise it on a billboard, Sherriff? Sure, just let the professional agitators know that they won. It's their city now. It's their initiative now.
The good sheriff hasn’t been schooled on the fact that it is not politically safe to publicly speak the truth on race.
White people have jobs to go to and families to support. A Cross, flowers and a candlelight vigil at the spot will just have to do.
