Irish voters backed same-sex marriage by a landslide in a referendum marking a dramatic social shift in the traditionally Catholic country, government ministers and opponents of the bill said on Saturday.
Final results were not expected until later in the day, but ministers predicted Ireland had become the first country to adopt same-sex marriage via a popular vote by a margin of around two-to-one, just two decades after it decriminalized homosexuality.

Fine. When they as heterosexuals with children try to get their child into a prestigious early development pre-school come up against the targeted preferences that consider sexual orientation, race, mixed components, et al, then they’ll understand.
It isn’t fantasy this concept. There is an entire episode on Modern Family about the tribulations of the two gay men who compete to get their adopted Asian daughter into a pre-school like that. IIRC, they got beat out by a biracial, binational pair of lesbians with a handicapped child....
The common normal man or woman isn’t affected by this but when you encourage and legitimize stuff like this, then be prepared for the consequences.
At least they will own it, consequences and all. We are likely to get it forced on us.

The margin of 2:1 in favor of gay marriage is very extreme for a nation that is predominantly Catholic.
