Josh Duggar is from Arkansas ... so it's totally cool if he dates his siblings. Back in 2008 -- long before Duggar's molestation past came to light -- he made a quip during an episode of what was then called "17 Kids and Counting." Josh describes a double date scenario with his then-fiancée Anna ... he ended up going with 2 of his siblings. Josh explains, "We chose Jana and John David. We thought why not, have a double date ... We are from Arkansas!" He then broke out in laughter. Not so funny now ...

Who, now?
JOSH DUGGAR BREAKS HIS
SILENCE REGARDING
CHILD MOLESTATION
ALLEGATIONS
I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.
Notice he said “I would end up ruining my life”.
No mention of victims. So creepy.
This “confession” also serves to silence the victims. Both Josh and his parents say, it was long ago, Josh sought and received forgiveness, and everyone has drawn closer to God.
If you are a victim, anything you may want to say makes it seem like you are not godly.
The dumb is starting to drip from this one.
The incidents may be true -- but Conservatives should be aware that this is all being talked about by the Left for the benefit of the Left.
When the Left does something wrong, they ignore it and attack Republicans.
When Conservatives do somethign wrong, we wallow in it.
The Duggars do not represent me -- but the media thinks they do. Constantly re-hashing mistakes made in Arkansas does not have to damage Conservatism (why should it??) but if the media and some Conservatives continue to beat this drum, the only beneficiaries will be Democrats.
This issue is more than just political.
Like I have said, if he had done something like shoplifting, used drugs, snuck out of his house to meet a girl, it wouldn’t have been such a big deal.
Child molestation is a very big deal. It is sick and disgusting, especially when done to his own sisters. Something is seriously wrong with this guy. It has nothing to do with the left or liberals or what they say about it. It has nothing to do with conservatives, either.
Recently I had posted something on FB about how the left hates the Duggars (before all this came out) because they are so wholesome and are the antithesis of everything the left stands for. I was obviously very wrong.
That's because in the Duggar household, it's the victims' fault for tempting Josh by looking all sexy in those dirty diapers he had to change.
I tend to agree with you.
This morning on TV there was talk of cancelling the show. After all these years, and counting, we learn that these human beings aren’t perfect...Why, how dare they be imperfect! /s
Cancelling the show would be a dumb move, because there are multitudes of families who contend with this very issue, every day. What an opportunity for the Duggars to reach out to those broken and hurting families through this very real-life, painful, embarrassing (for all) issue.
A Frank discussion, and shedding some light on the subject could be a VERY good thing for both the Duggars and those families throughout the country, rather than hiding and sweeping things under the rug.
There are a ton of issues that are raised such as
1) How did the parents find out?
2) What did they do when they found out? How did they feel?
3) How did the victims handle the problem?
4) How are the victims now?
5) Was the counselling of perpetrator and victims effective?
6) What kind of counselling did they receive?
7) What is the basic premise behind the chosen counselling method?
8) How does that method compare with other methods?
9) How common is it for siblings to molest other siblings?
10) Lessons learned from the impact of this experience such as how it tears families down, and shame issues, trust issues, restoration issues?
There are TONS of questions that can be addressed to our benefit.
I do hope the program producers will re-think cancelling the show when in fact, this entire event can be utilized to do a TON of good for so many!!
For later
What companies are going to advertise on the show now? Sponsors started distancing themselves from the Duggars as soon as it came to light that Josh molested his sisters. TLC had no choice but to yank the program.
No sponsors. No show.
Look at your list of “benefits” and put yourself in the victim role.
Are you serious?
There is a enormous difference between a 13-year old and adult doing what Duggar did. Most young teens that engage in such behavior don't do so again. Many are not sexually motivated.
There is a double standard in his case because of his fame and that he and his family have opposed abortion and same-sex marriage openly.

Basic data about child-on-child sex abuse is detailed in an authoritative, Justice Department-sponsored analysis of crime data from 29 states. Conducted by three prominent researchers, the 2009 analysis found that juveniles accounted for 35.6% of the people identified by police as having committed sex offenses against minors.
Of these young offenders, 93% were male, and the peak ages for offending were 12 through 14, the researchers found. Of the victims, 59% were younger than 12 and 75% were female.
The report referred to a popular misconception that juvenile sex offenders are likely to reoffend, and said numerous studies over the years have shown the opposite that 85 to 95% of offending youth are never again arrested for sex crimes.
University of Oklahoma pediatrics professor Mark Chaffin, a co-author of the 2009 report, says efforts to deal constructively with juvenile sex offenders are complicated by the tendency of some legislators and others to lump them together with adult sexual predators.
"That used to be the message that we should apply the template from what we know about adult pedophilia," Chaffin said. "Now that the data has shown most of those assumptions were wrong, it's difficult to undo those messages that people in the advocacy and treatment fields were putting out a generation ago."
While some youths commit violent, premeditated acts of sexual assault and rape, others get in trouble for behavior arising from curiosity, naivete, peer pressure, momentary irresponsibility, misinterpretation of what they believed was mutual interest, and a host of other reasons.
He already reoffended.
The first incident happened in ‘02.
Then again in ‘03 and this time he was forced to do ‘construction work’ penance.
You got that 100% right. The media already thinks the Duggars represent conservatism. I think the way to combat that perception, and eliminate (or at least mitigate) the damage caused to conservatism by this news is to strongly, clearly and consistently condemn the reprehensible conduct that has come to light here. And by that, I mean both Josh's molestation of his sisters (and, according to some reports, at least one other girl as well), and the parents' conduct in hushing it all up
By contrast, the very worst thing to do would be to defend the conduct, as some on this site (not you) have tried to do.
Who is this guy and why do people care?
Exactly. Heck, he reoffended at least twice. The first incident happened in March 2002 (or, at least, that’s when Jim Bob became aware of it). Then, again in July 2002. And then, once again, in March 2003. It took over a year, and three incidents (more, actually, since the first “incident” was Josh confessing to Jim Bob that he had molested multiple girls) for Jim Bob to do even as much as get Josh into the “construction work” penance thing.
So now what’s the deal here? Are the liberals going through every single episode of that show, combing through, in order to find something stupid said by him??? So now the liberals, for the next few days, will expound on this situation, saying, look, he’s pushing incest, and he pushed himself on his sisters, look at how revealing this is, etc.
Do we really have to go there????
