New York Times: $15 an Hour is Meant to Drive Fast Food Out of Business
Red Statements ^ | 5/17/2015 | Steven Ahle

Posted on 05/29/2015 4:22:16 AM PDT by HomerBohn

As noted by the New York Post , the New York Times has let it slip that the real goal of the $15 dollar an hour wage is to drive cheap fast food restaurants out of business. And as they said:

“The restaurant industry . . . will not go down without a fight.”

But, I thought that all the businesses affected by the minimum wage were just greedy and could easily afford the wages they should have been paying all along? I guess that wasn’t true. That certainly wasn’t the case for Z Pizza in Seattle. Z Pizza employed 11 employees, who were convinced their lives would be better since they would now be making the astronomical sum of $15 an hour. The owner, Ritu Shah Burnham, tried everything. She laid off workers, cut hours and even quit paying herself a salary, but in the end, she was forced to close her doors. You see, while most businesses her size had six years before paying the $15, she had only two because she owns a franchise. She got nailed on Obamacare for the same reason.

Liberals in their infinite wisdom (cough cough) they decided that a small franchisee should be lumped together with all the the franchisees and company owned restaurants. To me, this is further proof that the goal is to destroy them. I mean, what difference is there between a franchise restaurant owner with 11 employees and any other pizza joint with 11 employees? This is Michelle Obama’s lunches for adults. The same liberals who demand the right to choose to kill innocent babies, is unwilling to give you the right to decide what to eat.

You can start with an arugula salad topped with bean sprouts and nutritious insect infested lettuce. Then a nice tofu patty in the shape of a t-bone steak and a side order of celery fries and steamed tree bark, followed by non dairy ice cream with the texture of a cardboard box for dessert. Of course that’s just for the masses of the great unwashed. The liberal elites will be enjoying shrimp salad, lobster topped off with a chocolate mousse.

Welcome to Obamaland.

The time is fast approaching where even burger-flipping jobs will be eliminated.

If only our Congress would say things like this to Obastard’s evil, lying face, he could be singing a different tune in some federal prison or asylum….

We need voices in DC more than every before in view of what this jerk has done in the last 6+ years. He has gotten away with 1,000 times more evil edicts than his predecessors have even now surpassing 9/11/01 if you count the mass destruction and death in the middle east where he and his evil regime has mangled.

America is unable and incapable of protecting its own borders and in that has ceased to be a viable nation.

Great accomplishments, Bozo, in such a short time.

Unintended consequences: it would drive Starbucks out of business too. People might be willing to spend $5 for a coffee, but not $10.

Don’t forget the new secret trade bill that the GOP is set on ramming through.

It’s an interesting idea that automation might largely replace burger-flipper labor. Imagine the feeling one might get aware of the knowledge that no one spit in your burger.

Went to McDonald's yesterday, and they got my order wrong (wrong product, missing product). Spent the time to go back, talked to the manager face to face, watched him tell the counter person to fix it, with specific instructions. I was caught up in talking to the manager, didn't watch what the counter person was doing. Got home and discovered that the order was STILL wrong (missing a component, just like the first time).

That particular McDonald's gets my order wrong about 1 out of 6 times or so (I go there because it's the closest one). Bring on the robots. F#ck their minimum wage demands. Some people aren't worth minimum wage at $2 per hour.

Well this won’t kill fast food completely.

What it will do is -

(a) allow family-run businesses to flourish (esecially those with lots of kids), cuz then the money stays in the same household, doesn’t matter what the rate of pay is;

(b) encourage the development of labor-saving machines to do the prep & cooking. We’ve seen this before with other industries, it’s only a matter of time & incentive now.

In other words, some will profit well from this situation, while others (like Obama’s peeps, who are about to become unemployed) will suffer a lot.

I don’t think they are his achievements at all. He’s just the figurehead that brought in the team to do the job. I think Jarrett is executing the moves for her white slavemaster (yes you been played again), George Soros, who probably paid a very handsome price for a team of historians, psychologists, Marxist ideologosts, and military stategists to figure out how to destroy a nation like America. Why? Bringing about the NWO will be extremely lucrative for wealthy businessmen like Soros especially if they sold their soul to the devil to become extremely wealthy and are repaying a debt before they die. The fires of hell await.

The left is irrational. Fixated on health, they encourage promiscuous, high risk sex acts, including homosexuality. Adamantly opposed to tobacco and even third hand smoke (the residue left from second hand smoke), they embrace pot smoking. Willing to fight for a woman’s right to choose, but opposed to letting her choose to drink a Big Gulp. The list goes on...

The Slimes is wrong

The reason for the drive for the $15 minimum wage is to pay for Obamacare.

The reason for the $15 minimum wage is to induce general wage inflation to cause general inflation that will ultimately devalue the US$ and thereby devalue the national debt

Coming south on I-95 I was really hungry and pulled into the Emporia Micky D’s.

No line at the drive in. Few cars in the parking lot. Placed my simple order - 3 double cheeseburgers and a large soda. Paid for the order, grabbed the bag and soda, and hit the southbound highway.

About 10 miles south I grabbed the first burger and took a bite. Crap it was a single. And there was only one other burger in the bag and it was a single also.

Yes, some folks are not worth minimum wage.

Whether the issue is health, the environment or minimum wage, the Left is really fixated on power, on control. Viewed in this context, all of their seemingly incongruous positions make sense.

Pot smoking gives them control? If we’re drugged up we can’t resist?

Facts:

The federal minimum wage effective Sept. 6, 1965 was $1.25 an hour.

Adjusted for inflation $1.25/hr in 1965 would equal $9.26/hr in 2014.

Current minimum wage is $7.25/hr would be $0.98/hr in 1965. /hr in 1965

I think you're on to something with this analysis. Forget the self-righteous actions of the Left, and dig deeper to what their puppet masters really want. Massive inflation. 1970's style inflation. 10% per year kind of inflation.

So what if burgers are $1,000 (just $1,500 with a side of fries!). The trillions of dollars of debt will melt away to nothingness for the banks and government. It comes at the expense of anyone who saves, but what do they care. They're not enough savers to make any difference in an election.

I can see the future. Every man a millionaire, but living in a cardboard box.

I have come to the point I am surprised when I get a order complete as requested. When I have time I will park and go in and then check that the order is complete but that is not always an option.

Waiting for fully automatic fast food.

I recognized the location of that McDonald’s immediately. That’s Easton, Pa. Wow! A shuttered McDonald’s.

The cities of Seattle and LA have mandated the minimum.

Why.....

well, there are pension debts owed and no way in hell there will be money to pay them. If the pension values are devalued, then the cities benefit. If the pensions aren’t devalued, like Deeetroit, the cities are toast

The benefits to out of control politicians are huge

Our small town fast food restaurant is a good place for kids to gain experience at a first job. The manager runs a tight ship and still keeps it fun. Our son loves it, works hard and has even gotten a couple of tips.

Had anyone there messed up like that, they would be fired.
