There's only about eight teams that ever have a chance of winning this thing and none are from Africa, Asia or North/Central America.

There are seven teams which are the entire first tier (Germany, Argentina, Italy, France, Netherlands, Brazil, Spain). I might push Mexico up every twenty years as to having a decent team.....same with Sweden and the UK. Beyond that? The rest are loaded with two-star players.
