KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- A Malaysian official is blaming a group of foreigners including two Canadians for an earthquake that struck Malaysia's highest peak on Friday, killing 13 people. The deputy chief minister of Sabah state in Borneo said 10 foreigners "showed disrespect to the sacred mountain" by posing naked at Mount Kinabalu last week. Joseph Pairin Kitingan said a special ritual would be conducted later to "appease the mountain spirit." Officials have said the foreigners, who included two Canadians, two Dutch and a German national, broke away from their entourage and stripped naked before taking photos at the mountain peak on May 30.

Why would the Malaysian government, which is Muslim, hold tourists hostage for offending some mountain spirit? Doesn’t Islam emphatically proclaim that there is only one god—which would be antithetical to belief in mountain spirits?
Didn’t they see the maple leaf patch sewed on their backpacks? That means they aren’t Americans and they shouldn’t be blamed for anything.
It’s the same science as global warming. What’s the problem?
Seems crazy to blame nudism for earthquakes, but Gore, etc. blame humans for short-term global climate changes — just as crazy.

Why not simply expel them? Why would they WANT these people in their country?
God knows they already have more then enough grossly indecent people in Malaysia - they are a muslim country, after all.

After having traveled throughout Southeast Asia and throughout
Mexico without any troubles, I’ve got a useful rule of thumb. Lean the local customs and what is considered polite and behave accordingly. You are a guest but not an indulged guest. Then you can get along and have fun. If you insist like behaving as if you are in the states or worse, you will have troubles.
