Female university students who completed 12 hours of training on resisting sexual assaults experienced far fewer rapes and attempted rapes, according to a new Canadian study.
The study involved 893 female Canadian students who were either given the training -- known as the Enhanced Assess Acknowledge Act Sexual Assault Resistance Program (EAAA) -- or formed a control group where they were asked to read brochures.
One year later, those who took the EAAA had experienced 46 per cent fewer completed rapes (5.2 per cent versus 9.8 per cent) and 63 per cent fewer attempted rapes (3.4 per cent versus 9.3 per cent) than the control group.

The fact that attempted rapes was so much lower after the class - indicates to me that the class taught some simple procedures about how to AVOID situations and locations where one would come across men with bad intent.
Its only a guess, but avoiding large groups of unknown men combined with alcohol and drugs was a key part of the lesson.
“...But, he was dead after all.”
“He’s a man, Mrs Fawlty.”
“Oh, I know.”
Same here, in a rural environment. We watch "Forensic Files" and every time they start off showing a college girl or housewife blithely trotting along like that, I know that we'll be hearing the lab tech say something like "The bones show repeated stabbings", etc.
Would a woman be called a racist for fighting back against a Muslim rapist?
Duh....
“How many times have you seen a woman.. running/jogging alone with ear phones on? I have... many, many times. Makes me cringe! Prevention techniques may not be PC but they are extremely valuable.”
You’re probably more likely to fall in your shower than be randomly murdered
Fearing something so rare is stupid IMO
“... fearing something so rare is stupid IMO”
Then let me ask, varyouga. Do you have firearms in your home? If so, why? I mean someone breaking in is rare then why do you PLAN not to be a victim vs taking a roll at the dice?
Well, I do like guns purely as a hobby so that’s not a good question to ask.
But in general, owning tools (within reasonable limits) is not the same as changing your daily life and restricting yourself from activities. Guns at home would be sitting in some box and not limiting you in any way.
I have lived in REAL fear of my life and carried when I was an actual target but I’d never carry 24/7 in anticipation of a random attack. The chance of it happening is too close to zero.
Jogging an entire lifetime without music or carrying an uncomfortable weapon 24/7 because of a minuscule chance of attack is stupid
