New York City's top cop is demanding a retraction after he was quoted by a news article saying the NYPD has a hard time hiring black officers because "so many of them have spent time in jail," according to a published report.
The Daily News reports that Commissioner Bill Bratton has called on the Guardian to retract the story -- which bears the headline "NYPD chief Bratton says hiring black officers is difficult: ‘So many have spent time in jail,’ -- because his comments were taken out of context from another story published by the British news outlet about the difficulties of being a black police officer.
Well lets see the original article, if he said its hard to recruit black cops because so many black males have criminal records, then it doesn’t matter which interview it came from..... SO what is the exact quote and question etc?

Truth telling is now, officially, a revolutionary act. Black men that don’t have criminal records and are responsible citizens already have jobs, or already are cops. The rest of the candidate pool, maybe not so many able young black men want to be cops. Especially now. Can you imagine the insults hurled at black police officers in ghetto neighborhoods?
Bratton was the Gun Grabbing LAPD Chief.

I have stated before that any young black person living in one of these wasted neighborhoods needs to find a way to get out. Here is a simple solution. Since the article states that most cities have trouble hiring blacks due to arrest records, just simply finish school, don’t commit any crimes, keep your nose clean and go to the academy. Get a police job with high pay and benefits. Get married. Have children. Move to the suburbs. Sounds like a plan.
If you do stupid things and get arrested, this plan won’t work.
I’ve been told that they will do almost anything to get more blacks in the academy. Many other minorities are filling that void.
Your comment is exactly what I am talking about. My daughter is a junior high teacher in Long Beach, Ca. Approximately 75% of her students are ethnic minorities and about half of these are black. I see this situation as a can’t miss chance for a successful life. Study hard, stay out of trouble, and have a great life.
I grew up in the Boston area. Multipile generations of Irish and Italian descendants did exactly this. Today there are many intact, great families with great homes and great lives all over Massachusetts.
