In defeat, President Obama declares victory
Politico ^ | 6/12/15 | Sarah Wheaton and Edward-Isaac Dovere

President Barack Obama responded to a stinging defeat dealt by his own party by declaring victory.

It is a common tactic in Washington to downplay bad news, but the White House brought it to a new level on Friday after House Democrats soundly defeated a package of free trade legislation that the president had personally implored them to pass. The White House chose to highlight the fact that one part of the package passed, even though two approvals were necessary to give Obama the trade authority he needs to negotiate the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership.

It’s the White House that’s doing the spinning. Politico, surprisingly, is calling them on it.

More and more it appears that in his own head he has this weird little world of his own.

It’s convenient, but....CHILLING.

Why in the world would you even need a Trade Adjustment bill for worker retraining and lifetime unemployment compensation if they weren’t selling the US out? $400 million .... you got to be kidding ..... it will cost billions when millions of jobs (not 100,000) are sent away ..... remember NAFTA?

It might not be spin. He may well know something we don’t, like the bill will pass and the vote today was merely for show.

I wouldn’t put anything past these jokers.

You know what?

This guy is really, really DANGEROUS.

I mean even more so than most of us here think.

Much more so.

A person handed so much over the course of their life is not really equipped to deal with defeat, much less PERSONAL REJECTION.

The reaction is usually one of EXTREME anger.

Agree. It is going to be brought back up Tueday. That gives Obama and Boehner plenty of time to promise or threaten to get the votes they need.

The Dems, including Obama, won BIG TIME.
The bill will pass next week because Boehner is going to give the Dems lots of stuff in future bills.

I saw another speculation just a few moments ago that had the stink of the truth. The TAA was the shell game vote. What prevents the TAA from being passed at a more advantageous time in the future? Caesar’s congress already passed 2 of the 3 necessary pieces to pass the abomination. Just pass the other piece when most advantageous.

Game, set, match.

I kick myself for having voted so many times over the years. What a waste of time. Caesar is going to do what caesar damn well pleases.

I don't know. In 18 months, Obama is going to be gone, and many Dems who are not retiring at the end of their terms will still be fighting to keep their jobs.

I don't know that anything Boehner might offer the Dems in return for their votes in favor of Obamatrade could outweigh the influence of the unions and others who have promised to make the Dems pay a heavy political price come next election if they don't vote against Obamatrade.

But that's just my opinion based on the various news reports.

Of course he declared victory. Now that “Congress has failed to act,” he can go ahead and simply declare it by executive order.

What makes you think we will have another election? At least, one whose votes haven’t already been determined by all the illegal voters having “pre-cast” their ballots for the Democrats?

I recall others commenting on Barry’s mad negotiating Skillzz

Tempers flared Wednesday during a debt negotiation session, when - according to Republicans - an agitated President Obama stormed out of the meeting.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said President Obama told him to not “call my bluff” when Cantor said he would consider a short-term debt-limit increase. Obama, Cantor said, then “shoved back and said, ‘I’ll see you tomorrow,’ and walked out.”

“Dealing with them the last couple months has been like dealing with Jell-O,” Boehner told a small group of reporters on Wednesday.

“Some days it’s firmer than others. Sometimes it’s like they’ve left it out over night,” he said, according to ABC News.

I propose we send Barry back to Indonesia and have him spend the rest of his term negotiating the sell out of the USA.
