I went to a reenactment in Gettysburg a couple years ago. They announced before it began that no reenactor would pretend to be killed because it could frighten the children in attendance. Talk about rewriting history...
Ridiculous. When I was a little kid I delighted in pretending to be riddled by machine gun fire before collapsing in death throes. I had it down to an art.
When my kids were little we would tell them the dead raccoon in the street was just sleeping.
Maybe the reenactors will just lay down and go to sleep.
