They had her escorted out because they could. It’s the high society version of “the bum’s rush”.

600 thousand was just for the art work .... it screams of post modern etch’a’sketch liberal with a box of crayola’s fine art ......

There was nothing wrong with the old one, so why waste our money on changing it?

What did it look like after Jackie redid it? Or Laura Bush? Both ladies had real style.

Yes, I liked it better than the floral. The floral seemed dated, I would say it looked 80’s but was done in the 90’s...so.

The one Michelle has done looks more up-to-date and I prefer jewel tones, so I tend to favor it. The colors are really nice.

The fabric on the chairs in the new room is absolutely beautiful, but I agree the chairs don’t look very comfortable and the table and chairs are a bit stark.

Michelle seems to prefer modern and I have just never cared much for the modern look. Straight lines and abstract just doesn’t move me.

Part of what I hate in the family dining is that much looks like it doesn’t belong, it doesn’t flow. It’s herky-jerky and stops the eye to get in your face here and there. The furniture isn’t bad, I like it pretty well.

I think that if I had a chance to update the state dining room I would probably try and take it back to how it was originally decorated. The family room should be decorated to their tastes, so if that’s what they like...

Ok, I’ll chime in...
I do like it (thanx, Mooch, for asking if it was ok to spend my moola on an already acceptable room)....
Much better than the horrid job she did in the Oval Office...bordello yellow curtains....

0b0z0’s old shorts. I thought rainbow would be better than stained yellow.

Pretty fashionable in the LGBT community, I guess.

Did the florist suggest the wrong flowers to the obamas?
In North Korea she would have been killed.

...head florist Laura Dowling quit her post and was escorted from the building by security

I notice the dining chairs are more substantial, presumably to bear the added weight of the first lady’s rump.

At the bottom of the article it says all of these upgrades (since Jackie’s day) are paid for by the White House Historical Association which takes donations from private and corporate sponsors. Plus a little bit of money from what it makes selling books and stuff. So at least it isn’t tax-payer money.

Still though, I think it is important to get the price out there - these presidents and other leaders in Washington - most of them are not like the common voter - as much as they would like to portray that they are.

There was a thread with a youtube link with some guy out on the street with a poster with photos of four huge mansions on them and their prices (2 to 18 million range). Then the people on the street had to fit the candidate to the mansion. Trump, Rubio and Jeb Bush came up a lot.

When told they had ALL been lived in by Hillary the reaction was priceless. Some could not believe it. Others were saying it changed their views on her and they probably wouldn’t vote for her.

Although 2 million really is barely enough of a house. I mean, if it takes $600,000 for the furnishings for just one room!
