Michelle Obama has given a touch-up to the White House State Dining Room, the latest interior design change that will endure long after she leaves the building at a cost of $595,000. Her modest changes to the room where many dinners and other events are held follow this year´s more dramatic remake of the Old Family Dining Room and the unveiling of the Obama china service. The change, which has been years in the making, comes just months after head florist Laura Dowling quit her post and was escorted from the building by security. I wouldn’t be caught dead in an outfit like that, but she wears it fine. My style and her style are NOTHING alike. But she does choose what works for her, clothes wise. Her decorating taste is very very far from my taste. I like classic beautiful. I am not big on modern tribal.

The cost is crazy. It would be very hard to make that gorgeous dining room too ugly. That is why I said so-so. But my taste in decorating is more along the lines of what Hillary did. It may be the only thing I will ever agree with her about.

I still stay practically speaking that those chairs will end up being hated by all.

It will take $600k to remove the stench the obamas leave in the White House once they’re gone.

695 grand for some drapes and a rainbow bullseye that looks like it came from a garage sale. Tacky and cheap looking. They sure can go through the cash. At warp speed.

Leaving? Sure, they could stay as long as they wanted and congress and the courts would find something in the 14th Amendment that unequivocally declares it perfectly alright. Congress doesn't have the balls to question him and as for the Supreme Court?

Please, don't make me laugh

‘I pray heaven to bestow the best of blessings on this house and on all those that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but honest and wise men ever rule under it’s roof’

I really BET she wanted to destroy this mantel inscription. We have had so many pigs in our People’s House that the stench will be very difficult to expunge.

Those curtains are just like what I have in my bedroom, with olive green walls. I love them.

Hate that picture though.

There should be two rules on this:

1) a president can only complete such changes within the first 12 months of a first term.

And the average spend per room must be no more than the average American spends on interior decoration altogether over the course of a year.

Ike the new Michelle’s better but......$595k!?
I could buy a whole huge house for that.

Saw a show on H2 last week about the WH when the Bushes were there (W).
Laura was so classy, regardless of what people think of W.

The most interesting part was about Truman. He had a party in the dining room and the guests reported vibration, and plaster in their food. Next day Truman orders the engineers in to inspect.
They came to him a week later, and said get out now. They didn’t know how the building hadn’t collapsed or caught fire.
One of them told him the ceiling in the dining room was still there out of “habit”.
Of course you know the rest. Truman oversaw the largest renovation of the White House to date. Amazing what they had to do to complete the renovation.
