‘Those Are Great Talking Points’: Ted Cruz Hits Back at MSNBC Host’s SCOTUS Claim With Two Questions
The Blaze ^ | Jul. 8, 2015 | Jason Howerton

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a Republican presidential candidate, sparred with MSNBC host Chris Matthews on Wednesday over whether the Supreme Court has become too “partisan” following the high court’s recent decisions on Obamacare and gay marriage.

Though he’s done so in the past, Cruz said he’s reluctant to advocate for “judicial retention” elections every eight years. However, he also said he’s tired of seeing some of the justices “not honoring their judicial oaths.”

Matthews later insinuated hypocrisy, accusing Cruz of “loving” it when the Supreme Court “seized the presidency in 2000” for former President George W. Bush during the infamous Florida recount fiasco.

“If there was ever a case of partisanship or ideology getting out of hand, it was 2000 — and you loved it!” Matthews said.

“Those are great talking points,” Cruz replied. He then asked, “How many times did they count the ballots in Florida?”

“Four times,” Matthews answered.

“Four times. How many times did Bush win?” Cruz pressed.

“Four times,” the MSNBC host admitted. “But they wanted to try one more time. Aren’t states allowed to do that?”

Cruz then argued the Democrats’ strategy in 2000 was to “keep counting and counting and counting and counting, and eventually maybe enough people will cheat and somehow our guy will win.”

Sadly, those on the left will go to their graves believing Bush stole the 2000 election......because, because, because, how could it not be so?

Ted Cruz has the boldness and courage of Trump in fighting the Left and his own party. But he also has the conservative track record and the bonafides to actually win.

Cruz wins. Again.

“the Supreme Court “seized the presidency in 2000”?

Is Matthews dropping acid?

Sadly, those on the left will go to their graves believing Bush stole the 2000 election......

In the 33 days from hell Marry Matalin let the cards be seen in an interview. She noted, we were going for an electoral college victory...

Let that set in for a second. Now it could be she was taking smack, however I see it different. That tells me IMHO, that they knew they were gonna get snookered and were trying to find a way around it.

What the DEM's and Team Gore are pissed out IMHO is they thought they had the theft in the bag, and their theft wasn't good enough.

It was divine intervention IMHO. Can you Imagine President Al Gore on 9/11?...

“Those are great talking points,” Cruz replied “Did you get them from DU?”

Yes... decidedly. But argumentative defeat like this is like water off an entitlement duck's back, frankly.

You shoot them down with a #6 pellet shotgun load pattern and they descend to the water (almost) and then rise like a Phoenix in brazen bravado bullsh!t incarnate to come back with more inanity. It is this perseverance and determination in abject futility against all reason that equates Democrats with Islamic Jihadists.

My recollection was that the ONLY element of the State of Florida that wanted to continue counting was the Democrat-dominated State Supreme Court.

The FL Secretary of State was ready to certify based on the multiple previous recounts. The FL state legislature was ready to step in and use it’s Constitutional perogative to assign the electors.

George Will, I think, had the right approach. Which is different than the Bush v Gore ruling. In it the SCOTUS would have invalidated the FL Supreme Court decisions and told the FL Supreme Court that under the Constitution it had no role to play in the matter. Tossing the election back to the SecState and State Legislature and possibly throwing it into the House of Reps. Where Bush would have won given the Republicans having majorities an a majority of state delegations.

Advantage: Ted.

Absolutely crushes him. Not only parries Chrissie's punch away, but he counterpunches with his own that lands right in Chrissie's kisser. Ted gives Chrissie a different 'tingle' than the one 0bama gives him .....

In a presidential race you’re ALWAYS going for an electoral college victory.

The Bush team did an excellent job of that, too. Last week of the campaign they leaked a fake poll showing Bush within 2 in CA. Then did something no sane campaign would do unless they really thought their candidate WAS within 2 points: they actually sent Bush there to campaign.

The Dems freaked out and followed Bush into the state with money and resources. Which kept their eyes OFF of what was happening in Tennessee and West Virginia.

Which gave Bush the election, in spite of the mess in FL.

Cruz is the man for me. And Trump has got to be offered a high important part of the Cruz Presidency. I do know where, but Trump is a real American and takes no shi! from anybody. And Trump is right.

Mary Matalin's husband, James Carvile, probably let it be known that CHEATING was how Gore was going to win the election.....which is what Democrats DO, it's their MO. Either stuff the ballot box or get some crazy business man to run as a third party candidate. Clinton NEVER got 50% of the vote.

I PRAY that The Donald is not doing the same thing this year.....he has said that he LOVES Hillary.....and he gave her money.

Forty years from now, a Leftist will be lying in a government-mandated "end-of-life dignity" facility, lying in a pool of her own piss, gasping ou her last breath:

"BUSH STOLE THE ELE - uuugnghgugn..."

Hate never dies.
