Residents of new york city have only themselves to blame by voting a socialist into office.

Good, hope that city turns into a 3rd world hellhole. The people there obviously want it, they keep electing into office the most far leftist idiots they can find so give them want they want.

Not his fault.

It’s only fitting that people piss on New York, given the excremental load of New York senators and representatives the city has helped dump on the United States.

DeBlasio hasn’t been in there long enough to do his damage, has he?

Seems like the Bloomberg administration started NYC down this slippery slope.

No matter, Mayor Bill will make sure even the Dinkin’s days will be looked upon fondly.

I have family members going to NYC for a visit in a couple of weeks.

They have been there often and I’ll be interested to see if they notice a difference,

Sad.

I visited NYC/Manhattan in 2002. I was shocked at the cleanliness of Battery Park, the subway platforms and stairs, the streets around Wall Street.

I was used to Market Street in San Francisco looking like a pig stye of litter and waste and the contrast was shocking.

Culture matters. Liberals ruin everything they touch.

I’m wondering what our libertopian friends have to say about this. Should we not make laws outlawing this behavior?

Merely urinating? One day, during the Abe Beam era, I saw a bum walking on the Bowery around 12 noon, in broad daylight, stop, drop trou, and defecate right in the middle of the sidewalk. When finished, he simply hiked his pants up and continued on his way.

Manhattan is only able to exist because of the Wall Street “too big to fail” banks and investment firms that siphon billions off the savings of America’s workers through a manipulated stock market and the transaction fees derived from churning 401K and IRA accounts. The New York banking cartel has maintained a stranglehold on investment capital in the USA since the early days of the Republic. Today it controls both political parties and has corrupted the government and the legal system.

Use antitrust laws to break up the banking cartel, spread the financial capital of American savers and corporations around the country, separate investment banking from commercial banking again and there will be several very positive developments.

1) New York liberals will no longer be able to subsidize the cost of their city by taxing the savings of the rest of the country through taxes on the banks and investment firms. If wealthy liberals wish to continue living the good life in “the city” they will have the choice of ponying up more taxes or reducing the size and cost of the city government and its payoffs to unions and the welfare class.
2) Downsizing the banking system from a New York cartel of “too big to fail banks” to smaller regional and local banks will greatly reduce the economic risk of bank failure. Without “too big to fail” status, banks involved in risky trading will go out of business when a speculative bet fails and the entire banking system will not be affected.
3) There will be more competition for deposits and loans.
4) Less concentrated wealth to control politicians and influence government.
5) A more regional and local focus on investment which means more capital will be invested in US businesses instead of being sent overseas.

Ah! The "olfactory aura" of oh-so-sophisticated NYC!

I hope and expect that I have made my last visit to that hellhole -- but, when I was unfortunate enough to be there, I studiously avoided the large sidewalk air grates over the subways.

The effluvia of urine (and worse) tainted air blasted from those tunnels as trains passed was a sure guarantee that I would never descend into those sewers for any reason...

Sadly ANYONE that chooses to live in a place controlled by liberals because it’s ‘safe and trendy’ at the time runs the risk of getting a REAL LIBERAL into office - be it NYC or Baltimore. For New Yorkers with money, they should have read the tea leaves 2 years ago and left...and they still can now, even, as it will take another 2 years for New Yorkers to realize what a NIGHTMARE they have and how that will destroy their precious real estate wealth.
