Alvin York and Audie Murphy were war heroes.

Juan McQueeg was a POW.

One who spilled his guts the minute he was captured.

And made 32 videos for the Viet Cong denouncing his country.

The following Vietnam era POWs were awarded the Medal of Honor:

John Cavaiani
Don Cook
Bud Day
William Port
Lance Sijan
Jim Stockdale
Leo Thorsness
Rocky Versace

I cannot stand John McCain, but I have largely ignored the rumors about his conduct while a POW because those POWS who I know have refused to confirm or deny these stories, telling me that it’s their business and they are not going to discuss it with anyone who wasn’t there with them. Since they are staying closed lips, from whom are the reports coming from?

They have also told me that they all cracked, all of them, every single one.

Here’s a story from a friend who served with the same unit that I served in Vietnam (different times) and with whom I served with later.

What’s really disgusting is the way all the GOP candidates have called McCain an “American hero”. There is nothing about his record before, during, or after his capture that makes him a hero.

He crashed three million dollar planes before his capture that almost got men killed. His arms were broken by the parachute not from torture. Then when he hit the ground the favoritism started due to his old man being an admiral and McCain went right along with it. Heard some dunce on Fox this morning saying he was a hero because he could have been released earlier than the others but chose not to. Another lie. POWs are released in order of captivity. If one can leave early, it is always the one that has been in captivity the longest. For McCain to have left early would have meant he could have been brought up on charges. Since his release he had done everything possible to deny veterans benefits and has tried many times to cut the pay of active duty. And of course his shameful conduct in the MIA investigation. John McCain is a disgrace.
