NBC/Marist Polls Show Donald Trump Running Strong in Iowa, NH
NBC ^ | 26 Jul 2015 | Mark Murray

Donald Trump is running strong in the early nominating states of Iowa and New Hampshire, according to two new NBC News-Marist polls.

Trump leads the Republican presidential field in New Hampshire, getting support from 21 percent of potential GOP primary voters. He's followed by Jeb Bush at 14 percent, Scott Walker at 12 percent and John Kasich at 7 percent.

Chris Christie and Ben Carson are tied at 6 percent in the Granite State, and Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are at 5 percent each.

In Iowa, Walker and Trump are in the Top 2 - with Walker at 19 percent among potential Republican caucus-goers and Trump at 17 percent. They're followed by Bush at 12 percent, Carson at 8 percent, Mike Huckabee at 7 percent and Rand Paul at 5 percent.

The polls were conducted July 14-21 - so before and after Trump's controversial comments belittling John McCain's war record on July 18. And they suggest the comments didn't affect Trump in Iowa (he was at 16 percent before the comments and 18 percent after), but they did hurt him in New Hampshire (26 percent before, 14 percent after).

But among all registered voters in these two presidential battleground states, the NBC-Marist polls finds that almost all of the major presidential candidates are unpopular - and that's especially true for Clinton. ................What does this tell you?

Finally, the polls show that majorities of voters in the two states (61 percent in Iowa, 55 percent in New Hampshire) agree with the statement - originally made by former First Lady Barbara Bush - that the country has had enough Bushes and Clintons in the White House, and it's time to give someone else a chance. ................Bad news for Hillary and Jeb.

Look at the internals...

July 2015: Potential Republican Electorate: n=401, MOE +/- 4.9%
February 2015: Potential Republican Electorate: n=381, MOE +/- 5.0%

Not a big number of actual Republican voters.

What does this tell you?

We have a political process that isn't screening out the bad apples. It's not working, and the problem is not the Constitution, it's the political parties.

This poll was taken before Trump visited Iowa yesterday and during the time he’d supposedly be negatively impacted by his McCain comments.

Both NH and Iowa are open primaries so the Dems and indies pick the Gop candidates.

Just the way the Rove and Prebius like it..

Trump “destroyed” himself with his McCain comments said the GOPe. He was “done” the chattering class said.

Instead, Trump’s numbers have INCREASED.

Ergo:

No one cares about John McCain.

No one is listening to the GayMedia talking heads.

Carry on Mr. Trump.

NEW HAMPSHIRE!!! LEADING!!. George Will was visibly shaken on Mike Wallace this morning. This is a screaming nightmare for the Rinos. I honestly believe that the Rino’s will be plotting a third party within 30 days. They are being marginalized and shunned by the conservatives. They thought they could cram down 4 votes to fund obamacare. They thought we didn’t care if they funded the illegal amnesty. They thought that Boehner /McConnell could get away with anything. They were very wrong.

You sure Trump is not a RINO based on the definition on this board?

Iowa is a caucus by precinct. The overwhelming majority of locations have party regulars who recognize most attendees on sight. Caucus-crashing by the opposite political party has been statistically insignificant. And, yes, there are a few regular goofballs who do switch back and forth.

If Trump stays in, there will be newbies who show up to vote for Trump, cast a straw vote, and leave without taking part in party business. Their influence is naturally very limited, as the presidential preference vote has limited impact on the eventual national convention delegate votes.

LOL!!! Fox News is trying their best to bash Trump with all their pundits. They especially want to use Meghan McCain to do so. I cannot believe they brought her on board. Their ratings will sink more every day. Nobody is being influenced by their constant bashings and they cannot believe it.

Fox news is slowly becoming just another liberal news organization.

Pathetic.

Faux has always been liberal, they just throw an occasional bone to conservatives to get that demographic.
