Go to a leftist private university, and suffer the consequences. TCU is affiliated with the hyperliberal Disciples of Christ (Jim Jones and the People’s Temple); the denomination is a member of the WCC and the NCC.
First, he is telling the truth. Isn’t that what a ‘christian’ is supposed to do, regardless of who hears it?
Second, i would think that this guy’s ‘friend’ just might be indoctrinated into the testing cycle of a Louisville Slugger.
Third, i suggest that any ‘alumni’ of that university, dry up their donations, fast.

No. TCU has no connection or affiliation whatsoever with Jim Jones’ cult, and neither do the Disciples of Christ.

I don’t think this is about freedom of speech. It’s more likely about a student publicly identifying himself with a University while making offensive remarks.
So the university un-identified itself with him.
I haven’t looked, but betcha he had TCU’s name or logo, etc. on his Facebook page.
(His comments were ignorant, too. I doubt many of the Baltimore thugs were on Medicare.)

More and more I see Texas just about as screwed up as any other state.

TCU is in Fort Worth TX.
This is another example of PC going to extremes. The student’s parents paying the exorbitant tuition fees should file suit against TCU.
I can understand why that might be something that you all would just as soon fade away, but let’s not play ‘1984’ and re-write history at this stage.

Ever notice how they don’t ever bother to ask one so charged what they were actually thinking? As for exiting the Disciples of Christ, I can’t. Never entered. I just felt an obligation to correct you, because I don’t like it when FReepers spread nonsense.
And for this reason, I have ostracized and cut off contact with any childhood friends who are liberals.
I don’t trust them.
