A June report from the Instituto Cervantes, a group created to promote the Spanish language, documented how four decades of mass immigration to the United States has made America the world’s second-largest Spanish-speaking country.
But a petition from the womens’ group Equality Now reveals that immigration has put the United States on a list that will be much more difficult for progressive immigration enthusiasts to cheer. A massive influx of immigrants from Muslim-populated countries in Africa and the Middle East has led the group to conclude that more than half a million girls in the U.S. are in danger of having their exposed sexual organs skinned from their bodies.
The practice is known as female genital mutilation (FGM).
Equality Now’s estimation comes from the Population Reference Bureau, or PRB, a non-partisan Washington research group. PRB explains that its estimates are derived from, “the general procedures used by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)… [in addition to] country-specific FGM prevalence rates from the Demographic and Health Surveys… [and] the Census Bureau’s 2013 American Community Survey [to] obtain numbers of women in the United States with ties to one of the countries where the FGM prevalence rate was at least 2 percent.”
FGM is widespread in many of the countries where the United States handpicks immigrants for admission to the United States.

The connection of our Spanish-speaking population to female genital mutilation escapes me.
Occam’s Razor. We could have a problem with immigrant Muslims mutilating up to a half million U.S. girls.
Gee, what shall we ever do? (Muslims-——Immigration——Problem?)
It might help if we defined them as “Moslem girls,” rather than “U.S. girls.”
What connection?
If we didn’t bring them in, they would never have been U.S.
Our current government seeks diversity to destroy this country and is importing every evil practice throughout this world into it. All because they’re (Democrats) are tired for wasting time on elections and entitlement pandering. They want to move to full, immutable control and be done with it all.
When most think about immigration, they think about Spanish speakers. I think that the initial paragraph sets up a contrast between immigrants from Latin America and those from Muslim countries.
Right.
That was probably the author’s intent.
There’s also a point to be made about illegal immigration: that it is irrelevant to this issue. These Moslem immigrants, just like the Tsarnaevs and Mohammed whatsis in Chattanooga, are coming here legally.
Understood. It is Obama and the State Department’s intention to bring in legal Muslims in astounding numbers. They have bastardized the entire lexicon of “refugee” to do it so they can subvert what little laws on immigration there are.
Elect me President of the United States and institute a complete ban on any further moslem immigration , for any reason(s) , from any country(ies) .I would further shut down and close all mosques , Islamic teaching centers , and remove all such ‘islamic studies ‘ programs removed from our colleges and universities . No student visas would be granted to any persons coming from islamic countries , UNLESS they could verifiably prove that they were Christian or Jewish .

What does the “or” mean? How many have undergone it?

They don't know. I expect they got the number of "up to" 507,000 women and girls simply by estimating the number of Moslem families originating in the relevant areas (Africa, Arabia, west Asia), and then guessing an average number of females per household.
Sounds like a job for Planned Parenthood.
