I’d love to hear from FReepers who were alive during Reagan’s rise in the 70’s. It’s my understanding that he was not taken seriously initially but was widely admired and respected after the Carter administration’s bungling of America.

Is it possible that Trump could be the next Reagan, or is this a flash in the pan sort of candidacy?

The one exception to Trump's apparent dominance, interestingly, is in Wisconsin, where local Gov. Scott Walker (R) leads many of the counties. No other Republican candidate holds his or her home state against Trump.

FReep mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.

A Trump win would be almost like ditching both parties.

That sounds rather appealing.

Having Google demographically pinpoint why Trump is leading the polls shows the desperation of the GOP-e and Democrat parties. TRUMP is like a political ‘super virus’ with not ‘cure.’

I’m down in SW Florida this week in Lee County. The cab driver who picked us up at the airport is from Jersey. Said the job market was good here and that he’s voting for Trump and sw FL is trump country. Started his own car service. Said it was east to start a business down here.

I am very pleased with what I see...

I only hope the people are waking up, we have this one chance to bring back America and the only two I see doing this is Trump/Cruz...

My reasons are these:

Trump goes in as Pres, Cruz as V.P. Even if Trump only goes for 4 years instead of 8, he does the ‘dirty’ work, then Cruz goes in as Pres for 8years...maybe by then we’ll have people in the House and Senate that can keep America on track for the American People....

The Republican party was like an island with the population happily engaged in subsistence living.(graft) Then, a 58 gun English man-of-war shows up.

I wonder what will happen when the media stops talking about his “meteoric rise” and his “controversial opinions” and starts talking about his mob ties in Atlantic City, his shady business deals in the 90’s, people who have been hurt by his business practices, the details of his various divorces, moral failings of his children, behind the scenes gossip from his TV show, etc.... etc....

Is he going to be able to bring the conversation back to the issues and his vision for the country?

Maybe it would be better to have a champion debater who does not have to rely on his cult of personality and media coverage to keep interest with the voters.

Trump may be leading the GOP field at this time, but he currently polls last in a one to one match up with Hillary Clinton. RCP

Novelty and name recognition will only carry Trump so far...eventually he'll have to tell folks in detail what 'something terrific' really is.

What a cool map.

If click on any county, you can find out information about it. (In this case, highest percentage of people who searched for Trump on the Internet.)

This one map proves how obsessed America is with Donald Trump

Oh, I get it - people are not FED UP, just "obsessed". No bias there.
