DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- More than 380 people in 26 U.S. states have been diagnosed with a stomach illness tied to Mexican cilantro contaminated by human waste, two federal agencies said Tuesday. It's the fourth consecutive summer in which the intestinal infection cyclosporiasis has been reported in the United States. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration are investigating the cause of the latest outbreak, which appears to have begun after May 1. The FDA said it suspects the contamination came from "contact with the parasite shed from the intestinal tract of humans" in the growing fields, contaminated water or harvesting, processing and packing activities. It causes diarrhea, nausea and fatigue which can last several weeks to a month or more if untreated.

George Lopez says the US is better with illegals and jokes how the pickers wipe their butts on gringo produce. He might not think it’s so funny when he or his family gets sick from butt wiped cilantro.

When we receive food from countries that don’t regulate anything, get lazy and stop growing our own food, this is what you get.

The best regulations are the self imposed ones. I know, we're busy people. We got mortgages to pay and car payments to make and beer to drink and sports to watch! Go Galt. You might not have as many material things if you do, but I'd bet we'd be much happier, and wouldn't be eating food that has been purposely crapped on.

Time is money. Why waste the time trucking back to a porta potty when they can take a dump where they’re at. They’re no different than the OWLS.

“Unless one goes to a farmer’s market, all green onions in my area of the country known for raising such items WILL come from Mexico!”

We buy all of our produce from several local farmer’s markets. It’s a Saturday morning ritual for us when we are in town. Know your farmer!

Green onions & radishes are the two worst.
The green onions trap contaminates and the radishes grow in the soil.
Neither are cooked most times.
Looks like they can screw up cilantro too...

[ Can anyone say Porta-Potty? WTF? ]

OSHA requires a porta john in the fields every 100 ft....

But hey that is only for American Workers on American Farms who follow all of the American Regulations and American Laws, ie. Farms that are no longer in business because they cannot compete with all the Mexican Workers on American Farms not following all of the American Regulations and American Laws.

They also cannot complete with Mexican Workers on Mexican Farms running under Laughable Mexican Non-existant food safety laws importing their good across our border via NAFTA...

So the Trendy thing to is to eat your Veggies Like moochelle Obama demands and if you get sick you cannot blame the 3rd world hell hole kleptocracy that is Mexico, because if you do you will be incarcerated at an American Reeducation camp, running under American Lefist Laws and Regulations.

Although I try to avoid buying produce from Mexico, it’s hard these days to find an American tomato. At some supermarkets, all of the tomatoes are from Mexico. That’s even the case in upscale specialty stores such as Whole Foods. If they’re not from Mexico, they’re often from Canada or Holland.

Why do you have to go to a farmer’s market to find an American tomato? One would think that the climate and soil in much of this country would be ideal for growing these fruits.

As a teen I loaded trucks by hand in a farm packing house in 1963. I think the workers were from Puerto Rico back then. There was a perfectly good bathroom with lots of TP. Nevertheless the walls were crap stained. Got a buck an hour in cash for that job.

Freaking Duh. I’m surprised liberals even noticed, they’re so slovenly.
Virtually all produce- at least at HEB, in Texas, comes from Mexico. It’s all over the place & buying organic doesn’t spare you. Some Mexican produce was commonly known to be grown in human waste 40 years ago. There used to be strict laws banning it’s import due to certain insects. There are still laws, today/ this day, prohibiting the sale of specific plants from one US state to another.

Not only produce, but frozen foods, soft drinks, bakery products, packaged foods- probably stuff I’ve forgotten or don’t know about, are processed in Mexico as well. Check your labels- carefully, if this matters to you. And pay attention when you fix something to eat. Some of the produce we’ve gotten is downright disgusting.

What made me start paying attention, several years ago, was some Eggo waffles that looked like they’d been prepared in dirty pans, The edges were all dingy. Not over baked- grey.

We are shopping at meat markets in small towns near by & the farmer’s market more & more. Even the little old Mexican man with the pick up truck by the side of the road is 100% safer than the grocery store, imho. At least, he’s a local.
