Professor arrested in racial profiling hoax [dashcam recording used as evidence]

False claims of racism and hate crimes related to sexuality seem to be endemic. So desirable is the status of victim that some people, especially those in academia, have been known to vandalize their own cars, attach nooses to their office doors, and otherwise fabricate hate crimes against themselves. Oberlin College, with a history of hysteria over fake hate crimes, even generated worldwide headlines for its overwrought response to a series of “hate crimes” that turned out to be false.

We don’t know what percentage of hate crime reports are self-generated hoaxes by the purported victims. Often there is no evidence. But as far as false claims against police go, the spread of cruiser and body cameras is helping us get a handle on the matter. Thus, this report from Connecticut is encouraging. Fox CT reports:

A Connecticut college professor named Minati Roychoudhuri claimed that she was racially profiled by a police officer, but a dashcam recording proved that she was lying.

Owner of gay bar in Illinois pleads guilty to arson and staging hate crime

August 04, 2015, Oak Park, IL — A former bar owner accused of burning down his Oak Park nightclub—who at the time maintained that the fire was a hate crime—has pled guilty to one count of arson and one count of insurance fraud, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown blog reported, on August 3, that Frank Elliott, who owned the now-shuttered Bonsai Bar & Lounge in Lake View, had pled guilty to hiring someone to burn down his Oak Park bar, the Velvet Rope, in June, 2012, as part of an insurance scheme.

Tandra Simonton, spokesperson for the state’s attorney’s office, said that in exchange for his plea, Elliott will receive two years of probation and a fine of $1,179, and must pay restitution of $107,000. He initially faced seven years in prison for each of two arson counts, and 15 years for insurance fraud. Elliott entered his plea on June 8.

At the time of the arson, Oak Park city officials said graffiti at the scene suggested that the Velvet Rope fire was a hate crime. But prosecutors said that Elliott, prompted by financial difficulties, was ultimately responsible for the blaze.

She was arrested for making a false complaint -- I hope they throw the book at her!

Here is the letter informing the college she had been arrested and charged:

Glad she’s being charged for this but I don’t see why the union is seeking an apology from the college, they had nothing to do with her false accusation.

She reminds me of Rep. Garnet Coleman. She is corrupt and vicious - trying to frame an innocent cop.

Academics many of whom act in a cjildish manner need to have the school act as their local parents. The administration is responsible for hiring and directing these degenerates. QED.

Furthermore, I don’t see why the union “insists” that the college “hold her accountable for her illegal and malicious actions”. It is the job of law enforcement and the judiciary to “hold her accountable for her illegal and malicious actions”.

Pressuring an employer to take action so your sense of vengeance can be satisfied is both wrong and unbecoming of police.

When the Left comes after you for anything, they like making you look bad to your employer. Turnabout is fair.

If somebody had made a false accusation against me, for the pupose of getting me fired, you can be damn sure I would inform her employer and the public at large that she is a malicious liar.

The school had nothing to do with her actions or accusations yet the police are demanding they apologize. Then they go further and pressure the school into taking action against her. There’s probably a moral turpitude clause in her contract that is going to cause her problems at work. The police are being petty pricks.

That letter is out of line. In fact I think the letter writers need a reprimand.
